Diagnosis - Adenomyosis (

Yesterday I had an ultrasound and they gave me this diagnosis in the conclusion. Came home, read all sorts of horror stories and have been crying for two days now. From what I understand, it's incurable, the consequences are awful and getting pregnant is practically impossible... ( Girls, is there anyone here with this diagnosis, can you advise what to do? Of course I'll go to the doctor, but they said to do another ultrasound at the end of my cycle first.

I also have adenomyosis; they told me to take birth control pills, so I'm taking them now.

Are you planning a pregnancy? The pill doesn't actually treat it, just suppresses the symptoms. I read that it's incurable, I'm in despair (

What utter nonsense, you can get pregnant with this condition, author, stop talking rubbish! Are you planning to already? I was diagnosed with signs of adenomyosis a year ago. Do you have any symptoms?

I've been treating infertility for 7 years, gone through so many examinations and different treatments, 3 years ago I had diagnostic laparoscopy because everything was fine on ultrasound, but during laparoscopy they found endometriosis - small lesions, they cauterised them, then hormones, but pregnancy still didn't happen, now they're sending me for IVF because stimulation didn't help either, and here on ultrasound they also found Adenomyosis, I understand that there's almost no chance, so it means treatment again, hormones and possibly surgery, I'm so tired of this - feeling really down 😔

Not yet, but I'm married. Yes, I read that, but wouldn't you be able to get pregnant when you stop taking the pill?

Were you able to get pregnant, or are you not trying yet? My only symptom is spotting after my period, it smears for up to 9 days. Do you have any signs?

It might not work, it doesn't help everyone. Many people have surgery and then inject serious hormones and still can't get pregnant... Do you have any symptoms, like spotting or lower abdominal pain?

Me too. During my period I eat hematogen. But now I'm taking the pill and don't have this problem. They told me to take a course and then come back for hormone tests. And then who knows what they'll say.

Hematogen is rubbish these days, not the same as it used to be. I'm thinking of getting a ferritin test and starting iron supplements. About hormones - I've read that problems disappear, but you have to be on them your whole life and then other issues start... I'm scared to take them, plus I want a baby, and nothing's working out for 7 years now(

I also had one at 22, diagnosed via ultrasound. I got pregnant at 26 on the first attempt in the first cycle. Symptoms—normal periods for 4 days, then light spotting for 2–3 days.

Could it have been a misdiagnosis? Did you get checked again after that? I also have 4 normal days, then spotting for 4-6 days, and sometimes they start painfully with irregular cycles, not sure if it's related to the diagnosis...

Really? And how is your adenomyosis now, has it gotten better or worse, are there any symptoms?

If you had endometriosis three years ago, the diagnosis of adenomyosis now shouldn't have come as a shock, provided you've read articles about this condition. Endometriosis truly isn't curable; hormones only slow down the progression. I underwent laparoscopy to remove a cyst and cauterize the lesions, followed by six months of intense hormone therapy. I gave birth nine years after the surgery, after two years of trying to conceive. The issue wasn't adenomyosis but rather the specific structure of my uterus. Currently, ultrasound shows adenomyosis lesions, which were present before and during pregnancy. Author, this condition is probably common in almost every woman nowadays, and many give birth with it, so don't be disheartened—look for a competent doctor.

Guest 16, thank you. I've read your message and felt a bit better; there's hope that everything will work out for me too. It's just that before, endometriosis was only detected during laparoscopy, but now it's visible on an ultrasound, which means it's progressing. My uterus is significantly enlarged, and the endometrium is thin, so I got scared that I might not be able to get pregnant. I suppose they'll probably put me on hormones.

Yes, I've been checked a hundred times already, now it's with me forever) but I'm not freaking out about it. It is what it is, and screw it—I'm not taking hormones for anything in the world.

I was diagnosed with adenomyosis for about 6 years by various doctors. I never took hormonal medication. In the end, I became pregnant in the first cycle without contraception. After giving birth, no signs of adenomyosis remained.

I've read that sometimes childbirth cures this crap, but hormones, well sometimes there's no way without them, many suffer from pain and bleeding because of this Adenomyosis, that's what I'm afraid of, and I also read that it can turn malignant...( that's just terrifying, you need to be monitored constantly...

There is nothing positive about this diagnosis. However, it's essential to understand the severity and type. Most doctors have recommended a hysterectomy for me. They've told me to forget about carrying a child myself. But my uterus is enlarged to about 12-13 weeks. I have diffuse adenomyosis and fibroids.

I was diagnosed with adenomyosis after my second caesarean section... I had periods lasting two months with very heavy bleeding... I had a Mirena coil inserted on March 27th... Since then, there's been spotting and bleeding, but it's lighter than before... The doctors said this could continue for up to six months until the coil settles in... I'm taking iron supplements as my haemoglobin is below average... That's how things are for now...

A year ago, I was diagnosed with this condition. For six months, I took Visanne (Dienogest), which has an antiproliferative effect, meaning it slows down growth and leads to a reduction in the size of endometriotic lesions. After six months, we managed to achieve ovulation, and I was able to get pregnant. I'm already five months along now! 😊

Happy for you. I have the same thing and took Visanne for 6 months too, nothing happened. Then had laparoscopy with hysteroscopy - ultrasound shows everything's fine so far and we've been tracking ovulation. But still nothing so far...

After the second C-section, everything worsened; I quickly became pregnant with the second child but had to be on bed rest throughout the pregnancy. For six years, I've been trying to treat adenomyosis—laparoscopy, hysteroscopy—and I can only be treated with low-hormone medications because strong hormonal ones cause hemangiomas to grow on my liver and affect my blood vessels poorly. There's constant spotting.

My mother had a similar experience; she had a coil fitted, and with it, at 45, she developed a huge fibroid. They removed her uterus and appendages in an emergency via ambulance. Of course, she forgot about those problems, but early menopause at 45 really took a toll on her head. It depends on the woman, of course, but my mother has never been an easy-going person in life, and early menopause certainly made everything worse... but then again, no uterus, no problems.

Sometimes, I do feel despair, but what can you do... I've probably seen a hundred doctors by now—different specialists, expensive and not so much. They barely managed to diagnose me... but still.

Many suggested a coil or combined oral contraceptives without understanding that they cause hemangiomas to grow on my liver, and sooner or later, they'll have to be removed from the liver as well. Some doctors don't even know such side effects exist; I was lucky to find those who do, although before them, I saw doctors who put me on COCs, and as a result, I now have large hemangiomas on my liver.

In short, over almost six years, I've realized that there are only a handful of specialists in this field, and not all treatments suit everyone the same—there are nuances.

Stay healthy!

After my first childbirth, on the 7th day, I was admitted to the women's hospital by ambulance because the obstetricians hadn't completely removed the placenta. They flushed my uterus twice and ended up performing a curettage, which is essentially the same as an abortion... Three years later, adenomyosis was discovered, and I was diagnosed with infertility. I was prescribed Novinet and took it for 6 months. I got pregnant on the first try, but there was a threat of miscarriage. After my second childbirth, a year later, the symptoms started again. Very severe pain in the lower left abdomen, excruciating pain during intercourse, simply unbearable. Another ultrasound, and again adenomyosis, which had grown even larger! Now I've started taking Novinet again. I really want to get rid of this nuisance, at least to stop it from spreading and causing pain. I'll be taking the oral contraceptive for 6 months. Then another ultrasound, and we'll see what happens next...

So, even childbirth doesn't cure endo/adeno?... And this crap will progress again(( I understand that only menopause or sterilisation cures it ((

He is undergoing treatment, but it's only with hormonal pills, which need to be taken according to the diagnosis, for a year or two with breaks. The dosage is prescribed by a gynaecologist. While taking hormones, which also act as contraceptives, no one gets pregnant. Otherwise, it's entirely possible to both cure the condition and conceive. I've been in the same situation.

Don't worry. You can still get pregnant. The bad part is that it can't be cured. At 25, you won't be inducing menopause. But if you're constantly on hormones or get a hormonal IUD, you'll gain weight. And at 25, weighing 100kg isn't really what you'd want. Because who would want you like that? Anyway, I'm in despair myself.

Hello. Has anyone tried treating themselves with herbs? Like red brush? There's Donna Bella tea with red brush. For some reason, I'm afraid it might provoke bleeding; one woman wrote about it in a review. But then, all the others are satisfied. So now I'm thinking. Maybe it's causing hormonal imbalance and signs of adenomyosis.

Hello, I started drinking red brush and uterus herb tincture. A year ago they found fibroids and adenomyosis, I took Zoely for 6 months, during that time a cyst also appeared on my ovary. I stopped taking the pill for now and am drinking the tincture.

I was only diagnosed with adenomyosis in April 2019. Only after I pressured the doctor to figure out my pain instead of brushing me off. Basically, for as long as I can remember, my cycle lasts 7 days. Bleeds like hell. Constant anaemia. In 2015 my daughter was born (took a year of trying) via C-section. A year later, pregnant again on the first try. Had a very difficult pregnancy. Second C-section. Then constant pain and PMS symptoms got worse every month. Temperature would rise, my lower back would give out. And again, 7 days... Doctors kept saying everything's fine! Eventually from December 2018, I had a week-long delay every month. And prolonged spotting. And my uterus hurt. My gynaecologist kept blaming it on the scar. That it was the scar hurting!! But I could feel it was my uterus hurting and bloating. Plus hormonal imbalance. Went to an endocrinologist, and only when she pressured my gynaecologist did she order tests and ultrasound. Diagnosed with adenomyosis. Uterus like a ball at 12 weeks size during my cycle. Prescribed Oki. I've already changed 3 medications. Can't take them. My whole chest breaks out in rashes and spots. Colostrum appears periodically. Terrible hunger. Mood is awful... And is it true that I'll have to live with this forever, that it can't be cured?

I also have adenomyosis and a fibroid. But I've given birth to two children. I can't take oral contraceptives, but I used the NuvaRing for five years, and with it, there was no spotting or any other symptoms of adenomyosis, and the fibroid didn't grow. Of course, everything is individual, but you could try the ring. After discontinuing the ring, the spotting returned.
