When I had pain in the right side of my abdomen, I got examined. During an irrigoscopy, they found a single diverticulum and said it was the cause of the pain. They recommended surgery if the pain persists, meaning the cause isn't in it 🤦♀️ Does anyone else have diverticula, and how can I manage without surgery?
They found it in me too, but on the contrary, the doctor didn't recommend surgery. Just need to stick to a diet. Avoid eating all sorts of junk that can clog up the intestines.

A CT scan with contrast needs to be done. Then, see an experienced and skilled surgeon. What's the point of conducting polls on forums? All patients are different, and each case is unique; the location, severity of the diverticulum, and other factors matter in deciding whether surgery is necessary or not.

Svetlana, did you disappear? If you really know and aren't just "trolling" or trying to squeeze money out of people, then write. If it's really a worthwhile recipe, how many people would be grateful to you.

And they told me to move more too, drink a spoonful of any oil on an empty stomach in the morning, and take a course of Salofalk every six months for prevention, and this is for life... And of course, diet.

Yeah, I was also prescribed Salofalk suspension, the doctor said to take it for about three months, but you can take Salofalk tablets too! Yes, drink lots of water and take psyllium on a regular basis!

A very relevant topic. I would like to connect with those who are planning a pregnancy with diverticulosis? Or perhaps someone who has given birth... This issue worries me a lot. I had diverticulitis with an infiltrate, helped by fasting and two antibiotics, and I was hospitalized with poor test results. I want to have a child, but there isn't really clear information anywhere on how dangerous all this is.

There are no recipes. There's only one recipe - the strictest diet.

Dear fellow sufferers, have you noticed that only those who haven't undergone surgery are writing? And there are two conclusions: either they don't survive, or they recover and this topic doesn't bother them anymore. Dear former fellow patients, respond! Share your post-surgery feelings so we can navigate this correctly.

I have the same question. I've already been hospitalized twice in the last 1.5 years. With an infiltrate and IV drips with 2 antibiotics. They recommended a planned surgery. Is it really impossible to avoid it?

I've had diverticula for a long time. My doctor advises me to monitor constipation to prevent it. There's no other treatment. If the diverticula become inflamed, then antibiotics need to be taken. The doctor will prescribe them.

I had surgery to remove my sigmoid colon with diverticula, because 2 months before that I had diverticulitis, an abscess, and peritonitis, resulting in emergency surgery. The sigmoid was removed as a planned procedure.

Can you tell me how your bowels work after the surgery? What are the sensations? Are there any problems? I hope it didn't require a colostomy bag.

If there's a threat to life (peritonitis, fistula, etc.) then they prescribe surgery.

Good day, stick to the diet (exclude fruits and vegetables with small seeds, limit red meat and eggs, at least 2L of water per day). Prevention after acute diverticulitis: Every month (for a year) take Alpha Normix 400 mg/3 times a week, then Enterol

And it's better not to allow a second relapse, because there could be complications like an abscess or fistula. Wishing you health

Surgery isn't recommended these days (unless there are complications like fistulas, etc.) - these are international recommendations.

I'm 45, at 24 they found diverticulosis in me, had terrible cramps and pain, would drop to my knees. I watch my diet, the quality of products, try not to aggravate with excesses. On a regular basis Psyllium.

What symptoms do you actually have? Based on my colonoscopy, I was diagnosed with diverticular disease. According to the biopsy - lymphofollicular dysplasia of the colon. Chronic moderately severe sigmoiditis. For some reason, I have unpleasant sensations more from the back side than from the abdomen. Like a feeling of spreading, inflammation, pulling. Tingling. In general, discomfort. No unbearable pain attacks. Just kind of monotonous unpleasant ones. Feeling of intestines bloated with gas. Especially on the left. No diarrhea. More like constipation. Lately with mucus. Sometimes it feels like it hurts when moving. Well, it's definitely the intestines. Because I did ultrasound of all internal organs, stomach was checked too. They didn't find anything. How do you treat it?

What bothers me is... pain on the left and right lower abdomen. Sometimes my intestines hurt. And there's pulsating on both sides, radiating to the lower back. After the colonoscopy, they found diverticula in the sigmoid colon.

Hello. I've read all the comments about diverticulosis. Diverticulosis is a very complex condition. Unfortunately, it's not possible to get rid of it completely. I was diagnosed with it 9 years ago. Treatment, as correctly noted here, involves diet. Under no circumstances should you eat nuts. All fruits and vegetables that contain small seeds are off-limits. Accordingly, seeds are also prohibited. Foods that cause bloating are forbidden. Everything that causes inflammation of the mucous membrane is also prohibited, meaning alcohol is out. During remission, you can allow yourself a little something, but keep in mind—just a little. Alpha Normix for inflammation. And only this medication, no other exists that will relieve inflammation in the intestines. Trimebutine as an antispasmodic. Omeprazole. If possible, reduce stress.

At least describe it in detail. Are you writing like that on purpose? People are suffering, you know. If everyone describes things more thoroughly, maybe they'll find something new that could help them. Damn, I'm suffering too: lower abdomen, on the right side, it hurts and the intestine is bulging out, colonoscopy showed diverticulitis. Constipation, constant bloating, laxatives don't always help, I'm exhausted. My stomach sticks out like I swallowed a whole watermelon. I go to doctors, they prescribe all kinds of pills but nothing helps, no diets work, the pain is killing me. At least write in more detail, what's it to you? People, seeing your comments, are hoping they might take the risk and decide on surgery, you should either advise them or not write at all

Yeah, this is also concerning. You'd think it wouldn't be hard to leave comments: how the surgery went, rehabilitation, feelings then and now. But no, they'll write that they had the surgery and that's it - wish they'd at least describe it in detail or something.
Does anyone else have diverticula, and how can I manage without surgery?
