Good afternoon. If there are any medical professionals among the esteemed forum members, or (God forbid) anyone who has somehow encountered this, could you please advise what symptoms occur with throat cancer? I really need to know, I'm worried about a loved one.(((
My friend's father had throat cancer. He went to the doctor, and they told him it was tonsillitis... they said that for about 8 months... his throat just hurt, like with tonsillitis. After 8 months, when the metastases had already spread, they diagnosed it... They removed his throat, but it didn't help. He died... it's such a pity... and it makes me angry at those doctors who prescribed medicine for tonsillitis!

Oh, come on, doctors again... Throat cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to diagnose. The tumour can be the size of a pinhead, practically invisible—and yet metastases are already throughout the body :(

And to not be afraid, you should go to the doctors; there are good ones too.
My father had throat cancer... It presents as a sore throat. But a good oncologist can see it all... though only when the tumour is already visible :(

My mum's friend died of throat cancer. With metastases. Mum said that even drugs didn't help her afterwards, constant, unrelenting pain. When she was buried, she weighed 36 kg. At 41 years old. Terrifying.

The symptoms he described were as follows: he had a sore throat for a very long time, they examined him repeatedly, and eventually found the issue. He was fortunate to have a good oncologist who successfully removed what was necessary.
A terrible illness. My acquaintances buried their son two weeks ago. He had that diagnosis. The boy was only 25. The diagnosis was made quickly, and the treatment was going normally. But after two years, a new wave began :(((((((((((

How interesting, can you cut a throat? And do you have something to do it with?

But I have pain (aching) in the cartilage where the Adam's apple is on the right. ENT specialists haven't found anything. They say it's ganglionitis. But I feel really unwell, with weakness, and my legs and arms ache... Could it be something more serious????

I am twelve years old and I have symptoms: a sore throat, pain when swallowing, I don't smoke, don't drink, it's been like this for three days.... It's hard to speak; if I used to go to drama class, now I can't, I'm really scared for myself((((

How long is it before cancer becomes visible? When does it start to show itself?

I've had these white patches on my throat for a while now, but it's definitely not tonsillitis—my throat doesn't hurt. The patches are slightly swollen and sometimes they come off on their own. Occasionally, they're not there at all. What could this be?

I read your advertisement, I would like to know what you can say regarding the treatment? My mother is in the hospital with throat cancer.

My grandfather died from this in '91. The illness lasted only five months... They never told him the diagnosis, not even when he was admitted to the hospital. The family was told just a month before his death; they said everything was already visible when he first came to the hospital complaining of a sore throat and pain when swallowing, that surgery was pointless, there were already metastases in the liver... I don't know what to think about it; maybe 20 years ago there was no possibility of a cure, and they were just pretending to treat something to avoid traumatising the person and his loved ones... Mum says that grandad was an absolutely healthy man, and then he burned out so quickly, at only 61 years old!

I recently started experiencing a sharp pain in the lymph nodes in my neck, and the pain is unbearable. At first, it was only on the left side, but then both sides started hurting. I can't even move my tongue, it hurts, and speaking is painful too... I'm scared.

Go to the doctor, you just need to get the tests done quickly. If there is some kind of tumour, do a biopsy; if the doctor hasn't prescribed it, look for places where they do it for a fee. My mother died of throat cancer, all because the doctors are SCUM, they couldn't find it, then when it was completely advanced, they started taking tests, everything took a very long time, and we were too late.

Recently, I've started to have a scratchy throat, a runny nose, and a cough (but not often, very rarely). And on the left side near a tooth, a small red spot has appeared on the gum. I swallow normally, move my tongue, and chew fine, and there's no sore throat. Is this throat cancer!?
My throat constantly hurts and I have choking attacks. I'm scared that there will be a complete airway obstruction... What is this?

Tell me what I might have!!! A week ago, I went to the doctor, and he diagnosed me with acute pharyngitis, prescribed antibiotics, but my throat is still red. Swallowing saliva doesn’t hurt, but I feel it when swallowing the Adam’s apple))) I haven’t had a fever, my tonsils are swollen, there’s no wheezing, and there are some whitish spots (he says it’s a burn).

Hey guys, I'm reading your posts... and I'm thinking I need to rush to the doctor urgently)), I also have pain when swallowing, a hoarse voice, etc., basically all the symptoms are there, I don't drink, don't smoke), have two kids, happily married... and that makes it even scarier and, to put it mildly, frightening)) I want to live!!!! Damn, so many unrealised plans!! Stop writing about who died when, it's better to leave each other useful information, like the address of the clinic where you were treated, the doctor's surname, the phone numbers of the institution where the treatment took place, etc.
My girlfriend, who is 16 years old, seems to have throat cancer((((( Does anyone know how to cure this?

Last year, students from our institute raised money for the treatment of a girl (a first-year student) who had throat cancer. This summer, I happened to meet the girl by chance. It turned out to be her. I had heard about her illness in passing but thought she had recovered. And today, it was announced at the institute that we need to raise funds again for her treatment. I'm very curious about what treatment method is being used and whether there is any chance of recovery at all.

Yesterday we found out that my father has throat cancer. The symptoms we noticed appeared a week ago - his throat doesn't hurt, but when eating hot food it feels like something is in the way, phlegm appeared with blood, his throat is all white and looks like purulent tonsillitis, only without fever and sore throat, just pain radiating to the jaw. We went to an ENT specialist and it turned out to be stage 2 cancer.

My father has throat cancer. A lump appeared on his neck in the spring. I live separately from my parents. My mother didn’t notice the lump, but I happened to see it and spent two months persuading him to go to the doctor. Symptoms: a lump on the throat—by the way, his throat didn’t hurt at all, he wasn’t in any pain—his voice sounded as if he were speaking through a pipe, and foul-smelling pus was coming out. The smell from it was very strong. Twice the tumour tried to block his throat, but the doctors saved him. Chemotherapy didn’t help. Now he’s lying in the hospital with a tube in his throat. You know, it’s absolutely awful; I’ve been depressed for two months. I’ve fallen ill myself because of it.

My father is 57 years old. He was diagnosed with throat cancer 8 months ago. He underwent radiation therapy (5 months ago). At first, during the first month, things were not too bad; we even had hope for recovery. But something happened. According to the tests, everything seems fine, but in reality... He cannot swallow food, has almost no voice, is experiencing bowel issues (constipation), and suffers from terrible weakness. Could it be that things are heading towards their logical conclusion :-((((((?
Hello, I've been scheduled for radiation therapy. I told them it's pointless, that it's too late, and that I'd rather be allowed to die in peace. I have no strength left, and I can only manage liquid food. How is your father doing?

Oh my Lord, please, you must stay strong.
In August, he underwent radiation therapy, and he just went for a follow-up check-up. They said everything is fine. Come back in three months.
But for some reason, I'm scared......

Hello Tatyana, today we saw Professor Vorobyov. He said it's all too late, chemotherapy didn't help, and radiation therapy can't be done because it would ruin his stomach. I recovered from the shock and asked, since he's going to die anyway, can't we at least try? And you know how he yelled at me: "I have more experience than you have years!" But I saw my father myself (I hadn't seen him for two months—since the children started school, there's been either diarrhoea or scrofula, I was afraid of infecting my father) and I realised he's not long for this world. You know how they depict death—always the same face. That's not my dad.

Tatiana, why don't you try consulting other doctors?
What difference does it make now... But what if they can help? Honestly, oncology is very advanced these days, and everything can be treated.
A doctor who yells like a fool is insecure. Perhaps they don't know how to treat the patient and have left them to die.

No, there's nothing more that can be done now; the metastases have spread throughout the body. My mother and I are praying that he at least makes it to the New Year. How will they treat the cancer, after all, there's no cure for cancer, it hasn't been invented yet. I hope maybe your dad can be helped—he's still young.

My throat has been sore for a week, with pimples in the throat (like blisters). The pain increases at night and subsides in the morning. It hurts under the Adam's apple when I touch it. Could it be cancer? Please advise what to do.
P.S. Doctors prescribed LEGOLEM ointment to apply. I've been smoking for about 5 years (I'm 18)))).

I'm responding to the last two. There's no point in speculating about whether it's cancer or not; if something is bothering you, you need to see an ENT specialist. The ENT should examine you with a small mirror (like the one dentists use). You can also ask for a gastroscopy—it will show if there's anything.

I have read the entire dialogue. There are as many opinions as there are people.
In 2008, I began experiencing problems with swallowing. That was the first thing I noticed. However, any food would pass through, though with some difficulty. There was absolutely no pain, and I didn't observe any other abnormalities.
In July 2009, a lump appeared on the right side of my neck. It was also painless. I went to the doctor, starting, as usual, with a general practitioner. He examined me, felt the lump, and prescribed Ibuprofen tablets. He said to take them for two weeks and return if it didn't go away. I took them, but the lump remained. I went back to him, and he referred me to an ENT specialist. The ENT looked and immediately said I had throat cancer, and the lump on my neck was metastases. But to be sure, he sent me for an X-ray. They put me in a tube and immediately confirmed the diagnosis.
I was operated on in Munich on 30.10.09 at the Rechts der Isar Clinic. Two weeks after the operation, I was home. They removed my Adam's apple and brought my trachea forward. Now I breathe through a tube. I still cannot speak. The vocal cords were removed, but they inserted some kind of plastic piece through which I need to learn to talk.
I am currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy as an outpatient. I have completed 15 radiation sessions and two chemotherapy cycles, each lasting 4 days. During the operation, they removed 13 out of 40 lymph nodes, and there were metastases in them. The doctors say that I am completely free of cancer and metastases. This is checked every week. Furthermore, after completing 35 radiation sessions and 3 chemotherapy cycles, the doctors guarantee that the disease will not return to me for 20 years. I am now 56, plus 20 years is enough, I think.
In short, throat cancer does not hurt, but it is diagnosed very easily. A good ENT doctor diagnosed me, as they say, at first glance. If there are any questions, I will answer.

I'm reading your article and I'm astonished—metastases and 20 years? God willing. After the lump appeared in March and chemotherapy in July, it's now Christmas and my dear father is living his last days. His voice started changing at the beginning of July, and then the surgery on November 30th—a tracheostomy, I think it's called. Six months of hellish torment, if you can even call these six months life. Chemotherapy was done at intervals of about a month: one day with fever, five days with nothing at all, then he'd recover for a week (Dad could eat). A week before the next chemo, it would block up again. I think the article is commissioned; surely not all professors in Moscow are quacks.

Hello Tatiana. I didn't quite understand your story. They gave your dad chemotherapy first and then operated on him. I was operated on three weeks after the diagnosis was determined. As I already wrote, I was home after two weeks. My condition was satisfactory, though I had difficulty eating—food passed with difficulty. My first chemotherapy, as well as my first radiation, was scheduled for December 10th. Before that, they inserted a feeding tube directly through my abdomen into my stomach, although I didn't understand why, since I was eating, albeit with difficulty. On December 10th, they started my first chemotherapy. It's a small pump with a reservoir, all about the size of a fist. This pump was connected via a port that had been implanted in advance into my main artery. I was on this chemotherapy for 4 days, after which it was removed. All these days, I also went for radiation. I felt normal, aside from nausea. The second chemotherapy session, exactly the same, was started on December 30th. I tolerated this chemotherapy worse. It got to the point of vomiting, and severe radiation burns appeared in my mouth—I couldn't eat anymore. But here, the feeding tube saved me. Nutrition and everything I needed were delivered to my home. I connect and disconnect it myself, etc. To date, I have undergone 18 radiation sessions and two chemotherapies. On the 18th, I'm going for a check-up. The doctor said the third chemotherapy might not be given, depending on the test results. After this treatment, there's a month of sanatorium treatment, and that's it.
