My throat hurts …

My throat hurts terribly

My throat hurts really bad, especially when swallowing. My temperature keeps fluctuating between 36.6 and 37.1. On the third day, a white coating appeared but quickly went away. On the seventh day, a dry cough and slight runny nose started. I've been to our doctor three times. He says there's nothing wrong, it's definitely not tonsillitis, "it'll go away on its own." For the pain, he prescribed Ketorol, justifying it as "anti-inflammatory." And to gargle with Furacilin. I take a pill in the morning, by evening its effect wears off, sleeping is almost impossible, my throat hurts. I'm not questioning the competence of the head doctor of the infectious diseases department, but if it hurts, it means we've been doing something wrong for the second week now :( Plus, I'm afraid of getting "hooked" on Ketorol. It's the tenth day of the illness now, my throat hurts a lot, only on one side, slightly radiating to the ear. Maybe someone has had a similar situation, please share your experience.

Hmm... It seems like a mild sore throat: it's radiating to the ear. Gargle with propolis tincture every half hour, suck on Lizobact tablets three times a day. Use Neo-Angin for pain relief. If it doesn't get better within 24 hours, take Flemoxin Solutab. One tablet three times a day for a week. Drink plenty of fluids with lemon and get plenty of rest. Get well soon.

If this doctor didn't help you, see another one.

Tonsillitis is ruled out because the tonsils are normal in size, the throat is only slightly red at the moment, and the lymph nodes are within normal range. I tried Lizobact for two days—it didn’t help. I’ll give propolis a try, thanks. I’ll also look into what Neo-Angin is all about. I tearfully begged the doctor three times to prescribe antibiotics, but he made it clear they weren’t necessary. On Monday, I’m waiting for the results of a finger-prick blood test, which I also had to persuade him to order. If the results are good, I’ll look for another doctor; if they’re bad, I’ll stick with this one.

Ah, it's acute pharyngitis! It's very, very painful... Do you have a blue lamp?.. Warm your mouth with the lamp. And it's good to apply Lugol's solution to your throat. Lizobact needs to be taken for a week.

Drink milk with baking soda, butter, and honey.
There are also antibiotics like Amossin, but they are not sold without a prescription. They helped me a lot.
It could also be staphylococcus that has spread to the throat. If necessary, you should get a throat and nose swab test.

It’s better, of course, to see another doctor. You can also write to a doctor online for free. That helped me once.

Don’t self-medicate. It’s better to see a doctor.

It was recently, my throat was hellishly sore, especially at night. Sometimes so bad that I even felt like crying, couldn't sleep. It was the first time in my life (I'm 27 years old).
What I took: Strepsils spray with lidocaine (specifically the spray, the lozenges did nothing), Grammidin dissolving tablets, drank milk with honey. It seemed like there was no effect at all, none immediately, not the slightest improvement. And then after about three days, it suddenly went away completely, not sure which of these helped.

I was in the village, and my throat was hurting too—not as bad as yours, but really intense and unpleasant. I had already started taking antibiotics, but they weren’t helping at all. Then I stumbled upon a 43-degree herbal balm in the cupboard, added a bit of boiling water to it, and gargled with it. Did that about four times a day. And strangely enough, by the next morning, my throat was back to normal.
Probably everything got disinfected in there.)

The infectious disease specialist could have just given a kick, saying it's not typhoid pharyngitis, not yersiniosis, not foot-and-mouth disease, so get out of here. Go munch on Ascorutin by the pack, nicotinic acid with thiamine by the pack, some damn cottage cheese, and whatever your little heart desires with B12 and folic acid. Co-trimoxazole from the pharmacist—without verification, we're only allowed to prescribe Furacillin topically.

You're in Russia! Just buy that nasty ADS-2 fraction. It really cures everything! By the end of the day, you won't even remember your sore throat.
Speaking of throats... I once burned my hand really badly. Under normal circumstances, there would have been a blister first, then an burn mark. I immediately smeared that stinky stuff on it and... lo and behold... within half an hour, there wasn't even any redness left on my hand. I remember staring at my hand in fascination for about 10 minutes)))

Yes, yes, that's exactly what he said, that it's pharyngitis. Is it dangerous? Are antibiotics definitely not needed? I'm just afraid that there might be some complications. And how long can this go on? It's already been 10 days of just a dull throat pain and that's it. Before, it always lasted a week at most. I started applying Lugol's on the second day, and on the third day, a white coating appeared, so I rushed to the doctor. He said Lugol's is outdated, no one treats with iodine anymore, and I'll burn my throat. Last night, after I posted the topic, I took ketorol again, so at least I slept normally. Now it only hurts on the left side, radiating slightly to the ear, but not as bad as at night—it's tolerable. And about the lamp, sorry, which area should I warm? Shine it directly into my mouth? Or on my neck?

Ask the doctor to rinse your tonsils; there are bacteria there.

For pharyngitis, gargling with oak bark decoction and Tantum Verde mouthwash solution helps me.

I don't recommend getting your tonsils irrigated. It's a horrible, sadistic procedure. Once you get to the ENT specialist, everything there is sadistic—all those "cuckoo" treatments and such. I went based on the ENT's recommendation, and it's a good thing I hadn't eaten since the evening. I was turned completely inside out, and he even damaged my tonsil—it bled and hurt afterward. I couldn't even tell if my throat hurt from the infection or from his irrigations. Plus, they gathered a crowd of students to observe how it's done. I was so terrified I didn't even squeak. *****, I should have run. I paid my own money just to be tortured in front of a crowd of students.

Anyway, in case it's useful to anyone. I was admitted to the hospital, and the pain stopped on the very first day. All my tests came back clear again, so they didn't prescribe me any antibiotics, just gave me inhalations. The doctor and I agreed that I must have had some kind of atypical allergic reaction, and as soon as I was placed in a sterile environment, everything went away.

My throat hurt for a long time and in different ways. It first started hurting in early September 2014. I treated it with antifungal and antiviral medications, gargled with baking soda—it only became more inflamed. I sprayed all sorts of medicines. The immediate effect would wear off, and the pain would return. It felt like there was an abscess in my throat. The otolaryngologist referred me to an oncologist. I went but couldn't even wait through half the queue. Dozens of people at the clinic couldn't get an appointment within the doctor's working hours. I didn't go to the oncologist a second time. I decided to gargle with chamomile tincture. I gargled thoroughly, frequently (6–8 times a day), and for a long time (about 3 months). Today marks the end of March, and I decided I could write that the treatment helped. There was a period when it felt like a healing scab had formed inside my throat, making it hard to swallow. But that didn't last long—about 2–3 weeks. I suspect that during the initial treatment with medications, I burned the mucous membrane of my throat and was actually treating the damage I had caused.

And one more thing—to get the tincture deep into my throat, I tried to direct it to the painful spot with small sips.

You can also use Stomatofit to gargle your throat. I initially bought it for treating my gums, but when my throat got sore and I had nothing at home, I decided to try gargling with it, and it turned out to be worth it. By morning, my throat was no longer sore.

Gargling is a good thing for a sore throat. But sometimes there's just no time for it, or it's simply inconvenient because you're at work. In such cases, I just take Bioparox spray with me and treat my throat with it. It's a really great thing, tested more than once!

Don't let it drag on, it's better to start treatment right away. I use Bioparox, it's a good remedy as mentioned above, because it helps really fast, contains a natural antibiotic, works locally. I recommend starting to use it to get better sooner and not let the illness progress.

Severe sore throat: "Tough as Nails," "Just a Cold, No Big Deal," "It'll Pass on Its Own"
It started like a regular cold on Tuesday—a slight sore throat, no fever. By Thursday, my tonsils were very red. I looked it up online: if there's no fever, it's a viral infection, no need for antibiotics, it'll go away on its own. I gargled, sprayed, sucked on Strepsils, drank tea, milk, honey, etc. On Friday evening, sharp pain, throat swelling, still no fever—it happens... just need to tough it out and gargle a lot...
On Saturday, my throat was heavily coated, tonsils not visible, very painful. I bought more throat tablets and analgesics—probably the peak of the illness.
On Sunday, my throat wouldn't open, swallowing was excruciating, fever 38.4°C. I picked the nearest medical center and went to an ENT. The ENT said it looked like a developing peritonsillar abscess, prescribed antibiotics, and sent me home, saying if it doesn't improve by evening, call an ambulance.
I called a friend, a super doctor, who said it sounded like tonsillitis, but there should be a fever—classically, a peritonsillar abscess starts in the second week, but the throat needs to be examined.
By evening, it got worse. I panicked and urgently found an acquaintance who's an ENT. She was shocked. The abscess was in full swing—call an ambulance immediately! Time was ticking by the hour! Ambulance, hospitalization, emergency nighttime surgery, abscess drainage, tonsillectomy. Three days on IV drips and painkillers. The doctors said we made it just in time...
Not all colds are the same. When tonsils and throat swell, time is of the essence—processes in the throat progress very, very quickly.
If your throat hurts, swallowing is painful for 2–3 days, see a doctor urgently. If no doctor is available, go to the emergency room.
Tonsillitis can occur without a fever! It must be treated by a doctor with antibiotics.

I always keep Tonsilotren in my medicine cabinet for sore throats. Of course, I don't rule out gargling with a baking soda solution as part of the treatment, but sometimes there's just no time for that. Taking the tablets, however, is very convenient. Within just a few days, it clears up the redness and inflammation like magic.

I'm also for Bioparox. Out of everything I've tried for treatment, it helps me the best. Within a couple of days, my throat is practically no longer bothering me, and the same goes for a runny nose—if I have one, I treat it with that too.

I only take antibiotics as prescribed by a doctor. Otherwise, for a sore throat, Tonzilotren tablets help. I pop a tablet and my throat feels better. It's good that I can give them to my son too. They are approved for use in children from 3 years old.

"Sore throat, painful swallowing" are typical issues faced by people in the early stages of tonsillitis. First and foremost, it's important to pay attention to what you eat and drink. Fluids are crucial for the human body, as we are made up of about one-quarter water. When your throat hurts, drink only room-temperature water. This way, you'll maintain hydration without irritating the throat's mucous membrane: http://lechenieprostudy.ru/chto-delat-esli-silno-bolit-gorlo/

1. Folk remedy: warm (not hot, boiled) water, 1 teaspoon of salt, baking soda. Mix and gargle 4-6 times a day.
2. Lozenges: suck as many special lozenges as possible, like "Halls."
3. Throat sprays: preferably buy a more expensive throat spray, and then follow the instructions.

Rinse with Furacilin, it helps well and is inexpensive. Just make sure to get the tablets that dissolve quickly in water. Otherwise, you'll struggle to dissolve the tablet.

The throat is such a sensitive organ—just a slight draft and you can't avoid the scratchiness and pain. Following my doctor's advice, I immediately start dissolving Lizobact. It works against fungi and bacteria. It helps reliably, as the doctor explained, preventing viruses from descending further down the throat and keeping the illness from dragging on.

Friends, I want to share with you a very effective way to get rid of a sore throat. A friend of mine recommended it to me; at first, I thought it was funny, but then I realized it really helps. Go to the store and buy a liter of cola. Every 20-30 minutes, gargle with the cola, trying to keep it in your throat for as long as possible. You'll feel relief from the pain as early as the second time... Wishing everyone good health.

I haven't gargled with Coke yet) Usually when my throat hurts, I immediately dissolve Trachisan. It helps me the most because it deals with the infection in the throat. Plus, it contains lidocaine, which numbs the pain very quickly.

During the cold and flu season, I often suffer from throat issues. Recently, I had laryngitis, which caused a burning sensation and dryness in my throat. The doctor prescribed a chamomile tea gargle and Isla-Moos lozenges. I was very satisfied with the treatment.

The child also had a very sore throat, along with a fever. I really didn't want to use antibiotics. The local doctor prescribed plenty of fluids and Trachisan lozenges to combat the bacteria in the throat. After four days, the fever is gone and the throat is almost no longer red.

Yeah, doctors these days...(((
Try Grammidin lozenges—I'm not just saying this randomly, I've tried them myself based on experience. I had the same thing, it was unbearable! My neighbor recommended them when the pain was impossible to tolerate, so I bought them. The pain subsided by the second day. They contain an antiseptic, antibiotic, and anesthetic—I'm referring to the Grammidin in the packaging with the red scarf; it specifically helps with pain too.
Maybe it'll help you as well, why suffer like this?

I woke up on Thursday morning with a severe sore throat. It hurts when swallowing saliva and drinking liquids. My temperature fluctuates from 36.6°C to 38.6°C, regardless of the time of day. The pain has been constant for three days now with no change in intensity. I’ve been gargling, using throat sprays, sucking on Grammidin lozenges, and drinking plenty of fluids, but there’s no improvement. The only thing I notice is that strange clots come out every time I gargle. I saw a doctor who said it’s pharyngitis, and I have a follow-up appointment on Monday—hopefully I’ll make it till then.

You shouldn't take too many throat tablets either; it's better to choose just one and stick with it. Inhalations and gargling are excellent methods. At the pharmacy, ask for Lizobact tablets—they will destroy any infection in your throat without harming the throat's microflora. If your temperature is not above 38°C, it's better not to take fever reducers; your body should fight the virus on its own.

You seem to have a pretty severe inflammation going on, since it's already radiating to your ear. It would be a good idea to get your ears checked for otitis or eustachitis. As for throat pain relief, why take such strong pills? There are throat lozenges with an anesthetic. I personally use Anti-Angin Formula—it even has a combined action: pain relief, antimicrobial, and throat tissue restoration. And it wouldn't hurt for you to change your doctor.

About two weeks ago, after treatment, my throat started hurting on the side where the tooth is. Well, I thought maybe something got damaged there, thought it would pass. For three days now, I've been feeling incredibly bad—my throat on this side (specifically the right) hurts very badly, with a feeling of pressure. I can't move my tongue because it's very painful, and I can't open my mouth fully. I went to an ENT specialist, who said it's pharyngitis and prescribed rinses, Lizobakt, and Hexoral. On the second day, I called her and said I was feeling very bad and asked for antibiotics. They prescribed Amoxiclav. But so far, there are no changes, and I can't do the rinses—it feels like the rinses make it worse. It's been three days since I've been able to eat properly 😭 I feel very bad and scared.

There are viruses that cause just a severe sore throat and that's basically it, with even the fever being insignificant. But the throat still needs to be treated somehow to prevent complications from starting. I usually buy sage from Naturprodukt myself; it has a combined action and treats a sore throat quite well.
