Six months, then it makes itself known periodically for another three years.

Have you taken antibiotics? Usually for 1-2 weeks.

I was in pain for about two weeks, I didn't even want to use that side.

For about two weeks, there was sharp pain. Then, it's still felt for probably another half a year. Not that it actually hurts (i.e., it doesn't particularly bother you), but you can sense that the wound is there.

I deleted it yesterday, and it doesn't hurt today... Does yours hurt so much that it feels like your head is splitting? Mine was just aching yesterday... 2-3 weeks is a bit much.

6. It largely depends on how the extraction was done and the position of the teeth.
If it was simply removed like a normal tooth, it heals quickly.
In my case, the gum was cut open because the tooth was lying sideways. It even broke and had to be removed in pieces.
Yours, it seems, was just pulled out and that's it.

The top didn't hurt by the evening/morning after removal, but the top has been hurting for two days, and it's not the socket itself... it's the jaw. The area is hard to reach, and no stitches were applied, only tightening pads.
Author, was yours a simple extraction or a problematic tooth?

Yeah, they pulled out my lower wisdom tooth (number 8) and stitched it up, they say it's more complicated than the upper one, I don't know. I'll remove the upper wisdom tooth later. They didn't want to remove both at once.

Were the roots positioned straight? Did they not fracture the periosteum?
Consult a doctor with your complaints and be sure to get an X-ray done.

I had my sixth tooth removed, and it took a whole month to heal!!! The tooth broke, and the roots were pulled out one by one. It took an hour to extract them.

In any case, you need to see a doctor and consult so they can check how the socket is healing. If someone else was in pain for a month and everything turned out fine, it doesn't mean the same will happen for you, or conversely, if someone's pain lasted only a day, it doesn't necessarily mean your situation is bad. Only a doctor can give you the answer.

I had two wisdom teeth removed, top and bottom, with a six-month gap between them. The top one hurt for a month—it was awful. The bottom one was removed, the wound ached for a day, and that was it. It's different for everyone.

2-3 weeks???! I was only unwell for 1.5 days. Then it just healed over. No discomfort at all. I had two teeth removed, and both healed this quickly. And I didn't take any antibiotics. Why would I???

My son recently had four impacted wisdom teeth removed: two at once and then another two a week later, with stitches applied. He experienced significant pain for about a day, after which he managed without painkillers. It has now been two weeks since the last operation, and he is completely free of any discomfort.

The lower wisdom tooth number 8 was removed. I was lying on my side, they cut the gum, split the tooth in half, and extracted it piece by piece. Then they stitched the gum up; it ached for a couple of days, but after a week, I had the stitches removed and everything was fine.

But I don't have any complaints actually, it didn't even hurt the next day, on the first day it was just the spot that ached a bit. The root was straight.

About a month. But I was on painkillers for only a week, then it became bearable. I was given antibiotics for a week, and the dressing in the wound was changed three times.

At most a week. If it lasts longer, see a doctor.

Oh come off it, for two weeks you can't even open your mouth properly, then it gradually eases up. The swelling is still there even after a month, just a bit.

Never really got sick. Just whined for a couple of hours after the anaesthesia and that was it.

1st time, it hurt for about 5 days, with a terrible swelling covering half the face, even turning bluish. The tooth extraction took around two hours plus stitches.
2nd time, there was no swelling at all, but it hurt a lot for two weeks; I took Ketanov, and my mouth only started opening normally after a month. The tooth was removed in half an hour without stitches.
But these were lower teeth; they say the upper ones are easier.

In short, if there's no fever and no smell of decay, then it's all right. But it's better to have a doctor take a look.

By the way, on the fifth day, the pain was worse than in the first few days; the end of the first week was the peak, and then it started to ease off a bit.

I had a rather rough wisdom tooth extraction, may it be cursed. My jaw was sore for a long time, about a month. I don't want to scare you, but many people (myself included) experience paresthesia—numbness in some part of the mouth or lips, cheeks (in my case, half of the tongue, still felt after five years but less so)—because a nerve was affected.
Hang in there, it will all pass. Do you have a temperature?

Oh dear. I'm facing extraction too. Been enduring pain for 4 days now, terrified of dentists like fire, but I can't bear this hellish pain anymore. Can't just keep sitting on painkillers constantly. And the extraction procedure itself brings me to a near-fainting state. I'm 25 years old but such a coward...

Don't be afraid. I was also scared by the dentist back then like... well this is such a case, we'll have to work on it for half an hour. Ended up pulling the tooth out in 1 minute, completely painless with anaesthesia. And nothing hurt afterwards either, just ice on the cheek for 1 day to prevent swelling.

Had it removed on Saturday, the removal wasn't complicated under local anaesthesia, the anaesthetic took longer than the removal itself, he wiggled it, removed it within 10 minutes, the root was straight. No cheek swelling, no asymmetry, the socket has almost healed, the gum is slightly swollen, no smell, but it hurts so much that I have to take Pentalgin or Ibuprofen twice a day. Started taking Doxycycline twice a day on Tuesday. It won't let me sleep. The young doctor who removed it checked it, seems like everything's fine. But it huuuurts! What could it be?

Shame I read your message too late, otherwise I'd have advised you not to take painkillers - the anaesthesia doesn't work well afterwards! They had to give me a double dose like for an elephant, now I've had a terrible headache for two days straight.

"Solcoseryl Dental" paste might help with healing. But if it hurts - it's better to go to the doctor

Same bloody thing. For four days everything was fine, almost gone. But by the evening of the fifth day the pain became such, as if the bad tooth had returned to its place and was hurting) Didn't sleep all night from the pain, even though the first days everything was fine. Surviving on Ibuclin and Nimesulide. No temperature, no smell, the clot in the socket is white as it should be. They say these are phantom pains that wake up on the 5th day and kickstart the healing process)

A week ago, I had a lower molar removed, but before that, I endured it for a month, afraid to go and took Ketarol. My gum still hurts, and Ketarol no longer helps, but yesterday a tooth with pulpitis started aching as well. I've read all the forums and came across a strange folk remedy: place a few sugar crystals on cigarette charcoal and inhale through the nostril on the side where the tooth hurts. The sensation was absolutely awful, my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, but literally within 10 minutes, the pain in both the tooth and gum disappeared. I slept all night without pills and without pain! Today, the tooth with pulpitis doesn't hurt, but the gum is hurting with renewed intensity. If it doesn't subside by evening, I'll repeat the experiment.

Good evening. I had a tooth extracted today. I was terribly frightened; the anaesthesia didn't take, so they gave me four injections—two before the procedure and two during. It was scary, but fear has big eyes. I suffered with pain for a month, couldn't sleep at night, and took painkillers in horse doses. And today, I finally made the decision. It's out. It ached for just a couple of hours after the anaesthesia wore off. I feel wonderful now, nothing bothers me at all. And yet, I read that some people have pain for as long as two weeks.

Today, I had my lower wisdom tooth removed. They said it wouldn't hurt, that the anaesthesia would work, and I wouldn't feel a thing! Not true!! Half of my face went numb, even my ear, but it still hurt! The extraction took about three minutes. Now it hurts even more, and the anaesthesia hasn't worn off yet. I've already taken a painkiller. I wanted to save the tooth and had been treating it for about a month, but nothing worked. If possible, it's better to treat your teeth rather than remove them.

Good evening. I'll tell you, there's no point in treating a wisdom tooth specifically. It's the most prone to decay because it's in a hard-to-reach place for cleaning, and treating it is a complete waste of money and nerves. I had my lower right wisdom tooth removed on February 26th. It was growing crooked, pressing hard against the tooth next to it. And now I don't know what to do at all. The right lower part of my jaw started hurting on the third day in the evening. The socket itself doesn't hurt, but it's still unpleasant to spit and I can feel there's a wound there. The doctor immediately prescribed antibiotics and another injection with lidocaine. My whole arse is blue. But I endured 7 injections over 3 days and 1 evening. And I'm worried that something isn't right.

It's been over a month since I had my wisdom tooth removed. It was a lower one, impacted in the gum. The procedure took an hour and a half, involving cutting and drilling, and it was quite difficult to extract. I didn't take antibiotics because of breastfeeding. There was severe swelling for three days, and it hurt constantly. A foul smell started on the 7th day after the stitches were removed. I called and told the doctor, who invited me to come in for a check-up. When I arrived, he took me back into the operating room, gave me a lidocaine injection (which didn't work, and I was sobbing and flinching from the pain), and stitched me up again. He rinsed, cleaned, and closed the hole, then prescribed antibiotics. A month has passed since then. Two weeks ago, the stitch that was attached to my cheek came out. Today, another one bled because I accidentally touched it. My jaw has been hurting for two days, and I had to take painkillers at night. If it doesn't get better, I'll go to a different doctor this time. I'm worried. Also, by the way, a nerve was affected—I can't feel part of my chin and lip. I'm taking vitamin B, and there's been only a slight recovery... Nasty tooth.

On Monday, I had my last lower wisdom tooth removed; they gave me two injections, it took 45 minutes to extract, and they used four types of instruments. I've been taking Nimesil for three days, and the pain has lessened, but it still comes in waves, so I take painkillers once a day. I have to change the dressing every four days. I can't open my mouth wide, so I'm only having liquid food, and even then, only when it's not too painful. I'm on antibiotics, Loratadine, and Acetol, doing two types of heat treatments, and I can feel an inflamed lymph node under my jaw. The doctor said the healing process will be lengthy, and I trust him completely. The only comforting thought is that this was the last of the troublesome ones.

What a nightmare, wishing you a speedy recovery, I had a lower one removed the other day, and in a month they'll remove another one that's lying horizontally in the gum, it'll be a complicated removal, and my doctor told me that they might need to take a clot from a vein, to make a plug and put it in the wound, and I understand they'll stitch it up, he says then the healing is many times faster.

Yeah, I also had my wisdom tooth removed and it was the last one too. They removed it in about two minutes. The socket looks clean, no temperature so far, no swelling either. But my gum keeps tearing... maybe it's still from the injections. They gave me lots of injections.

They put a clot in for me too. Probably during the extraction when the blood formed there. Before that, they always used to put antiseptic medicine in the socket after removal. But for this particular tooth, it was specifically a clot.

Six days ago, I had my last difficult wisdom tooth removed (it was impacted). It was extracted in pieces, a tough procedure, and I was stitched up. I'm taking the antibiotic Amoxiclav. There's no swelling or unpleasant smell. My jaw aches at the extraction site, and the neighboring teeth are sore, especially at night. It also radiates to my ear and neck. I'm not taking any painkillers for now, just enduring it. The stitches haven't dissolved yet; they're still holding.

Previously, I had my upper eights removed (simple ones) in about five minutes, and they didn't hurt at all. I also had a difficult lower eight removed before, but that was somehow easier than this time.

On Monday, I had my last lower tooth removed, which was lying horizontally in the gum. It took 40 minutes to extract it—they couldn't pull it out easily. Before the procedure, they injected a painkiller but hit a nerve, which was painful and unpleasant; my head even jerked. The tooth was crumbling, but they managed to extract it eventually. They drew blood from both veins, but only a little came out before it stopped. They formed a clot, placed it, and stitched me up. The stitches need to be removed after June 19th, and there's this fishing line-like thread that's uncomfortable and stings a bit when I try to eat—I'm already attempting to. My gum is swollen, and my face is square on one side, though by the third day, it's gotten a bit better. They also rubbed the corner of my mouth so much that the skin peeled off, and it burns. Now, on the fourth day after the extraction, I'm taking Fanigan, which relieves the pain for 6-8 hours. The pain is intense, even radiating to my head. A month ago, I had a lower tooth removed in a normal position, and everything was much simpler then. Upper teeth are a breeze—just 5 minutes and it's over. Well, thank God, there were only four, and this was the last one. If anyone is postponing an extraction or waiting until it starts bothering them, it's better to gather your thoughts and just get it done. All of mine were problematic but in different ways: the upper ones were decayed, one lower one was impacted, and the other took three years to grow, occasionally hurting but staying in place.

Three days ago, I had my lower wisdom tooth (number 8) removed.
The extraction was straightforward, done with forceps.
No stitches were applied; they just placed medication.
But now, the adjacent teeth are hurting a lot—aching and throbbing... it feels like pulpitis in all the lower teeth.
Should I be concerned? Will the pain last long?

Of course it hurts like hell, lower wisdom tooth, got it removed a week ago, the pain's only got worse, nothing bloody helps, I'm already taking three different painkillers at once, and even then the effect isn't proper, already having stomach problems, heartburn and pains. But what the hell else can I do, can't bear this hellish pain, I'd rather croak from the tablets than endure it.
