Human Papillomavirus 16 18. How to live?

I was at the doctor's today, he diagnosed me with HPV 16 18.. I'm devastated. What should I do? How to live? I'm 27 years old. I told my husband, he'll go for tests tomorrow. We want a child.. And please tell me, if I'm infected with this, does it mean my husband definitely has it too 100%?? Can you only get infected with this virus from someone who has cancer? Or can they just be a carrier of HPV specifically types 16 and 18??

And what??? Author, you have the internet, do some reading. Not only is this virus treatable, but it also exists in a huge number of people! It often doesn't show any symptoms... Why are you causing a panic???

There are plenty like you here; read the forum, it's already been discussed.

You'll live, don't worry. But what's the point? :)))

It is impossible to completely cure HPV! Of course, treatment is necessary—symptoms may disappear, but the diagnosis will remain. Don't panic! In fact, this diagnosis affects almost every third person. Your life won't change in any way; you just need to visit the doctor regularly to avoid complications and prevent the condition from worsening. You could have been infected by anyone with HPV (cancer is a different matter—you can have HPV without having cancer). And in men, HPV may not be diagnosed immediately. In short, don't worry!!!!!!!

Author, now you simply know that you have an oncogenic HPV and will be checked every six months. If anything adverse is found, it will be detected at an early stage, and at an early stage, almost all illnesses are treatable with positive outcomes. In our society, people often go to the doctor when the disease is advanced and little can be done, but you are aware of the risk, so you will remain vigilant.

You can live with this your whole life and not get ill. Children have nothing to do with it at all. Give birth calmly.

For men, this virus is not dangerous.

Author, I'm also 27, and in June I found out I have HPV 16. I panicked just like you did—I even started a thread here about it! You might find it if you look. I went to a good doctor who completely reassured me, and now I'm living happily and expecting a baby! Just be a bit more attentive to your feminine health, get the relevant tests done every six months, and don't stress! Life is beautiful! All the best to you! :)

Oh my goodness, I've been through that. It's treatable. Calm down, author! Have you been listening to doctors too much? Like, alarm bells, involuntary passing of urine and faeces, sepsis, fatal outcome? Listen to them less. Good luck.

Thank you for responding. But now I'm scared for my husband and our future children... It's strange, but under the microscope, I show no external signs. It's only in the tests. I've seen two doctors. So it might be in the early stage perhaps. Are there any vaccines? Has anyone had them done?

Why are you so worried about your husband? That he might get cervical cancer? That's nonsense. It's the first time I've heard that this is hereditary.

Nina, don't worry! This won't affect your offspring in any way. My situation is more severe than yours - HPV 16 and dysplasia. I gave birth to a daughter this year. They're advising you correctly - get checked every six months - that's the key to staying healthy. And be cautious with immunomodulators - my condition worsened after using them. Wishing you good health!

Vaccines are only administered to those who are not carriers of HPV.

Today, I received the same diagnosis. Tears welled up immediately. But after reading your messages, I've calmed down. Just one question: what will be prescribed for me next?

I was diagnosed with HPV 16 and 18 today. They outlined a three-stage course of tablets to take, but said it's not a treatment, just immune support for the body. I'm in shock!!!

I also have this HPV 16,18, and I was in shock too when I found out. My doctor prescribed pills and suppositories (for both me and my husband). We've just finished the treatment recently, and next month I'll go to get tested. I really hope (so much) that it's all behind us.

Treatment? With candles and pills? Interesting, interesting... How much money was wasted? Condylomas are removed. For cervical dysplasia - regular check-ups. If dysplasia appears - surgical treatment. Everything else is a SCAM for money.

Today I found out my diagnosis - 16, 18, I'm in shock, one man - so many acquisitions... I don't know what to do next, I've read messages on the forum, they say you can live with it, but I want children in the future and a normal life.

Hello everyone)) Now I've calmed down after reading your messages) But earlier today, when I heard from the doctor that I've been diagnosed with HPV 16-18... I was in shock!!!! That's an understatement... I really want a child and I hope that with proper treatment and ongoing care for my women's health, everything will be fine))

Hello, I've been diagnosed with HPV18. I've read a lot about it.

So, does that mean taking pills and using suppositories is ineffective? :(

How is it treated then? I've heard about the Gardasil vaccine – it's suitable for ages 12 to 26, or is it not applicable for me?

I had almost all types of high-risk HPV. I was treated with: Viferon suppositories, Epigen-intim spray, Licopid tablets, and Indole-3-carbinol (I purchased it from NSP). After the treatment, it was not detected in my blood. Wishing you good health!

There is a very good vaccine called Cervarix. It is expensive. The vaccine is generally well-tolerated in women with existing or previously detected HPV infection. The duration of protection is 10-15 years!!!

I also have HPV 16 and haven't come to terms with it yet. I'm feeling quite sad. I hope it will all pass.

As far as I know, men do not contract this virus but merely act as carriers.

Whaaa!!! There are so many of us!!!! I'm 23, married for 3 years, dated for 4 years before that, faithful to each other, so no cheating involved... but still, this rubbish happened, HPV types 16 and 18!!! What now? The doctor prescribed pills, injections, and definitely cauterisation today. It's unpleasant that this situation happened to me, probably like all of you!!! What do you advise, get treated and calmly carry on living? I'm in shock...

Girls, I had the same issue and was equally shocked! I was referred to Oncology Dispensary No. 1 at Baumanskaya because I had grade 2 dysplasia. Long story short, they sent me for laser treatment, and it was cured in just three minutes. The doctor said men have immunity and don't need treatment. (Some private clinics love to scare you and prescribe a bunch of pills—it's useless!) I just need to get checked every six months, and that's it! There's a lot of nasty stuff in the world, but don't stress over it! It's not fatal if you keep an eye on your health!

Hello, girls. I'm only 20 and I've also been diagnosed with HPV 16 and 18. I haven't been sexually active for about two years now. And when I was, I always used protection. Basically, it's as if this nasty thing just blew in with the draft; truly, my immune system is quite weak, and from what I've read, that's enough to get it.

I'm really panicking. But after reading your messages, I felt a bit easier at heart. I will be able to have children, won't I?((

Well, what's there to be scared of... HPV is a very, very common thing. Yes, with HPV, there's a somewhat increased risk of cervical cancer, but it's not cancer itself! You just need to go for regular check-ups (at least once every six months) – just in case, only as a precaution, and if there's an erosion, be sure to treat it (usually, erosion is treated with a laser very quickly and easily). If you suspect you have a weak immune system (you often get sick) – consult with a general practitioner or gynaecologist on how to strengthen it. That's all!

And HPV doesn't affect the ability to have children at all.

As I understand, removal of erosion is mandatory with HPV 16,18. Is this a dangerous procedure? Is there a risk of recurrence? What can be done to prevent it from coming back? If anyone knows, please share your experience. The doctor explains purely in theory... I'd like to hear from those who are familiar with this firsthand. And which method of erosion removal is more suitable for those who haven't given birth?

High-risk oncogenic HPV DETECTED. Genotypes under analysis:

16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52

What does this mean?

And what about urgently treating erosion? I was simply told it's advisable after childbirth, but before that, there's no way?

I also have HPV types 16 and 18, which are high-risk... it's been about 3 years now. Vaccination only helps those who haven't been infected yet, and neither suppositories nor tablets have worked for me. I have an erosion... but I haven't given birth, and there are also issues with my sex life... it's very painful... and it stings too... in short, I'm in distress. I'm tired of running around to doctors; they can't even say anything substantial. If there are any good doctors in Kazan, please recommend them!!!!!!

I've also been diagnosed with HPV 16 and was prescribed injections of Reaferon into the uterus and tablets of Lavamax. Yesterday, I had my last injection, and now I'm afraid to have sex with my husband without a condom. What if I get infected again? What should I do?

After the HPV treatment course, it's still present in me. The doctor says there's no need to worry because it's not curable in principle. Yet, she prescribed cryodestruction for my cervix. The only thing I don't understand is: if the virus remains in the body, won't it continue to damage it from the inside? And on top of that, I've read that it can also be transmitted through contact in daily life. So, does that mean my partner could get infected from me just through a simple kiss? It's somewhat frightening just to think about it.

How to live with this

So why all the fuss??? Maybe I just don't grasp the full danger, but... you know... it's not the end of the world! It's just a threat, not a sentence... You just need to keep it under control and not neglect it. That's what I think. Although I'm 18, I have HPV 16, 18 and a deep cervical erosion... That's how it is.

Hello everyone! At 7 months pregnant, I was diagnosed with HPV 16 and 18. I was prescribed a bunch of medications and told that the warts needed to be removed surgically... but I didn't take a single pill and didn't go to the oncologist. By the 9th month, the warts disappeared on their own, and I gave birth... Could any of this affect my child???

Hello everyone! Girls, thank you for such detailed reviews, they make me feel much calmer somehow 😊 I've been diagnosed with HPV 16 and have been prescribed Allokin-alpha injections (an immunomodulator). Has anyone heard anything about this medication? Or perhaps been treated with it? I'd be grateful for any feedback. The thing isn't cheap, and I don't want to throw money down the drain...

Girls, I was also diagnosed with types 16 and 18, plus severe cervical dysplasia... I had a conization. After everything, I asked the doctor: "The bad part" has been removed, but what about HPV? ... She replied: Everything that could be done - the virus has already done... I'm left with this uncomfortable feeling... Am I right in understanding that besides the cervix, it can't affect anything else?

Laser cauterisation costs 300 hryvnias, while cryo is half the price. I had cryo done.
