Low ferritin

Low ferritin

Hi, why is it that with low ferritin you don't feel like doing anything, extreme weakness, memory suffers, difficulty thinking. I went to a neurologist, he said just raise iron levels, but it's hard to raise. Anyone who's been through this, please share your experience.

Tell me about how you're feeling and what you're using to lift your mood

You need a hematologist. A neurologist is completely irrelevant here.

Find a good doctor. I do not recommend self-medicating.
My level was 8. I took Sideral Forte for three months, then switched to Fe (Now). After six months, it was 56. Be sure to take it with vitamin C, but not the effervescent kind. I got Solgar.

What do you mean, why are you interested in the chemical process? That's written about on the internet.

There are many topics about anemia. We had this issue in our family. It all started with a simple complete blood count, which showed very low hemoglobin. And then it all began: searching for the causes. Indeed, find a good hematologist; they will direct you to take tests to identify the reason for these low indicators.

Some of your organs aren't functioning quite right: either your stomach or your intestines. That's the cause. My acquaintance had the same issue; she was diagnosed with both. She doesn't absorb iron properly. But you need to take it wisely, otherwise, it could affect your liver. You should consult with a doctor. Go see a doctor.

Well obviously, you're gonna feel like crap. Oxygen isn't circulating well in your blood, that's where all the problems come from. The neurologist only sees the symptoms, they're not from nerves, but also from poor oxygen supply to the brain. You need a hematologist.

Can this cause severe weakness, chills, trouble thinking clearly and memory problems?

Well, it's pretty basic. Ferritin is needed for hemoglobin, hemoglobin is for carrying oxygen in the blood. Oxygen is needed for brain and muscle function. What part isn't clear?

I never thought ferritin could affect things so much, I can barely move my legs when I walk, I have almost no memory, it's become hard to think.

You'd better not just think about it, but get examined. Ferritin isn't such a harmless indicator. There could be tons of reasons for iron deficiency, all the way up to cancer.

I had an endoscopy, TSH test, everything was normal at the time.

It's good that it's normal, so you're following the doctor's prescription. Did they prescribe you something?

My mom was prescribed Tardiferon (I think that's what it's called) - it's pure iron. It doesn't absorb well for her because of her stomach (something's not right there). This was actually determined by a hematologist after all the tests. The course was 2 months (they prescribed Motilium and also plantain), so it's cumulative. There are results! They found the cause and treated accordingly. Maybe you haven't taken it long enough yet. Maybe another doctor will prescribe something more appropriately. If you raise your ferritin levels, your condition will improve. My mom could barely walk, had fatigue, her legs would give way. Get treatment, wishing you health!

The mood is depressive, memory... well, it's the age already. Get treatment, everything will get better.

I was taking Sorbifer Durules, and within a few months, my levels rose from 9 to over 50 and haven't dropped since. That was several years ago; now it's 60.

With low ferritin, I had no energy for simple daily tasks, constant fatigue, always wanting to sleep, falling asleep early, and struggling to wake up in the morning. There were no side effects from the pills.

Yes, very much. You forget basic things like whether you turned off the stove, why you came to the table, mood is terrible, obsessive thoughts, anxiety, restlessness, poor sleep, sometimes tachycardia, ringing in the ears, hair falling out, burning in the chest, dry skin, blackouts, dizziness, body aches especially the back. COVID + heavy periods. Ferritin was never even checked in the hospital here. Hemoglobin normal and go home. Started taking iron Ferretab 2 capsules and periods became lighter and symptoms gradually started to go away. I take vitamin D, switched from Phenibut (3 weeks 2 tablets - no longer due to difficulty withdrawing) to Novopassit - it calms the heart, relieves anxiety, relaxes muscles, lets me sleep properly without waking up every two hours from nightmares, clarity in the head, lightness, no zombie state, have mood and desire to live) and B vitamins (full complex). I get vitamin C from juices. I walk two hours every day. Anyone who needs more info write to me on Telegram @ivoryflower

Exactly the same symptoms. Saw so many doctors and ended up figuring out the cause myself. Been taking Ferretab comp 1 capsule with effervescent vitamin C for a month now. There are changes, ferritin was 12 now it's 19, skin isn't flaking, heels are smooth, hair isn't falling out like crazy and new ones started growing, mood improved, no more energy crashes like before. Of course it's not fully treated yet, but there's progress. Muscle pain and weakness still present, ringing in the ears. Also had depressive state, apathy, irritability, panic attacks - now it's normal. But I hope everything will be great going forward) Wishing everyone all the best! Stay healthy!)

And what is your ferritin level? Mine is 36. I fall within the reference range. But the explanation in the response says that if it's below 75, there's either an infection or inflammation in the body. Yes—I've had trigeminal nerve pain for 30 years without a break. Naturally, it's inflamed. I want to inject vitamin B12 because it helps with iron deficiency. I'd like to know about others—what are your iron levels? Thank you.

Don't talk nonsense! And don't scare people!! With cancer and inflammation, ferritin is elevated 😜

I recently went to a neurologist, they prescribed some tests, and it turned out my ferritin is low at 8 and hemoglobin at 109. I made an appointment with a hematologist, we'll see what they say.

When I had a similar problem, I was prescribed a specific medication - Bonoferlat. It helped me a lot. Everything returned to normal just after one course of treatment. About a week and a half after I started taking it, I began to feel better, and it only improved from there.

Take Hema-plex. It has good doses of iron plus cofactors for absorption. Check your protein levels; with low protein, iron has nothing to bind to in the body. All women have low ferritin due to menstruation. If periods are heavy, iron should be taken every month, not just one course. One course won't improve anything. My ferritin is 45, which is considered low. It's supposed to be equal to body weight. Otherwise, you get weakness, anxiety, worse skin, etc.

And what iron supplements were prescribed? I really liked Bonoferlat. It's pure iron with vitamin C. Plus, it's in a special form. All of this significantly improves iron absorption and reduces the risk of side effects. After my course of taking it, everything is great.

I took Evalar's liposomal iron in capsules. Only this supplement managed to raise my ferritin levels. It's an alternative to Sideral Forte but has a better composition. The dosage is high - 30 mg, and one bottle lasts for a month, whereas Sideral Forte only lasts for 20 days.
