How does a miscarriage …

How does a miscarriage happen?

My friend went to the doctor thinking she had a cycle disruption, a dysfunction. But it turned out to be a miscarriage. And at 9 weeks pregnant at that. Now I'm really scared: I also have functional disruptions sometimes. And I've gotten used to my periods sometimes being delayed. But can a woman really not tell the difference between a period and a miscarriage? Especially at that stage, could it really just be some bleeding and that's it, with no other sensations?

My friend took a test in the first days of her missed period - it confirmed pregnancy, but then a couple of days later, her period came. The doctor explained that she was experiencing miscarriages. So, it's possible not to tell the difference.

At a very early stage - indeed, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. (Although 9 weeks is actually quite a bit; by that time, changes in how you feel usually start to appear). Otherwise, I've read that with the advent of pregnancy tests, it became clear that almost two-thirds of pregnancies are lost in the very first days - before, a delay of a few days went unnoticed, and no one had time to see a doctor. :)

They say it's a case of "the pregnancy didn't stick."

But that's when it's just a couple of days or a week into the pregnancy.

I think my child could have been 10 years old by now...

At least, that's what the doctor told me, and I was stunned—that I had only been pregnant for a week...

I had a one-day delay last month, I wonder, could that have been pregnancy?)))

I went to see an astrologer. I gave her the exact time of my birth, the place, year, and date. She calculates on the computer and says,

"But you should already have a grown-up child. Where is he?"

I say no, I've never had any children!

She says: "It happens, a woman might not even realize how it occurred. Her period came a week or two late, and then it came. So, you had a conception in February..."

I remembered having unprotected sex... I really didn't like that period, to be honest; my breasts were sore, and I had a pulling pain in my lower abdomen and lower back. It was just spotting and sluggish.

Then everything was fine.

At 9 weeks, a miscarriage is a painful process. I was at 7 weeks when my miscarriage occurred. I later gave birth twice. During the miscarriage, the pain was cramp-like and cyclical. The fetus came out, small, slightly larger than a pea, and with it, the gestational sac about the size of a quail's egg. Afterward, there was spotting as after childbirth because the miscarriage was incomplete; the layers of the placenta and such that had formed did not come out on their own. They performed a dilation and curettage.

Have you ever heard of painful periods? Yes, girls go through SUCH HELL every month, and it's not pregnancy or miscarriages, but "just periods".

My aunt, who is a gynaecologist, says that a quarter of all pregnancies end in spontaneous miscarriage in the early stages (up to 4 weeks, I believe). Women often don't even realise they were pregnant and had a miscarriage. Most later say their period was just two or three weeks late due to the heat/a cold/stress.

Last month, there was a week's delay, I felt nauseous, dizzy, and then, after sex, it 'broke through', and that was it.

I had my period at the end of August... then it came again on September 12th and ended on the 20th... and started once more on October 4th... today is the second day, and a pad only lasted me about two hours... what could this be? How can I find out if it was a miscarriage? And with such an issue, will I be able to have children at all?

A month ago, at 15 years old, I lost my baby :( I didn't go to the doctors. Understanding that you're having a miscarriage is quite straightforward. A miscarriage is accompanied by unbearable pain in the abdomen and lower belly, heavy bleeding, pieces of tissue, and at the end, the loss of the baby and the afterbirth. Girls, women, please don't have abortions, don't destroy your own flesh and blood; take care of your health during pregnancy. May you have many children, happiness, love, and good health :)

Elena, I disagree with you. It doesn't always happen as you described. I've had two miscarriages, and both were different.

My period started two days early. I had been feeling slightly nauseous before that, but that often happens to me before my period. Two days ago, around midnight, my period began, and I had gone to bed late. I thought it was a good thing I was still awake so I could put on a pad before going to sleep. During the night, I woke up with a pulling pain in my lower abdomen. I was too lazy to get up for painkillers, but the pain kept increasing. Eventually, I got up and took an Analgin. I went back to bed, and suddenly I felt the need to go to the toilet, sorry, for a bowel movement. When I came out of the toilet, I felt terrible—a sudden loss of strength, my legs could barely move, I broke out in a cold sweat, and my face and body were drenched. I woke my husband up to make me a strong, sweet tea. I lay down, but the pain in my back and abdomen was unbearable. Suddenly, I felt nauseous, rushed to the toilet, and vomited. A few minutes later, I vomited again. I was shaking and felt so cold. The pain was gripping me. I endured it for about 30-40 minutes, on the verge of losing consciousness. The next day, my period was heavy and thick, very painful, and I spent the whole day on painkillers. On the third day, it was as if my period had stopped—very little flow, pinkish in colour with whitish specks. I've made an appointment with the doctor. I think it might have been a miscarriage, and I want to find out from them. I felt this awful a year ago, with exactly the same scenario. And now it's happened again. WHAT DO YOU THINK, could that be it?

Three days ago, I visited the gynaecologist because my period was late and I had a positive test. After an ultrasound, it turned out I was already three weeks pregnant. But just a couple of days later, I started experiencing severe lower abdominal pain and bleeding, which ended in a miscarriage. A few days before that, I had symptoms of a miscarriage but didn't realise it because it was my first pregnancy: my lower back hurt badly, and my lower abdomen was in pain. So, girls, if you have similar symptoms, it's best to see a gynaecologist and get advice.

I have had three medical abortions before, and I only had ultrasounds for the first two. By the third time, I already knew I was pregnant, and everything was fine after that. I waited for my next period, but it never came—there's been a 13-day delay. I haven't taken a test, but I realized I might be pregnant, so I ordered pills. Then, I started spotting, followed by heavy bleeding (as expected with a period). Could this be a miscarriage? Or is it a pregnancy with menstruation? Or could it be a change in my cycle after the third abortion? Can I take a test now? I think the embryo hasn't passed yet, and this might just be a regular period...

I had it happen at 8 weeks, like a second mini-labour. This was my second pregnancy. Besides, at 9 weeks, it's hard not to notice if the gestational sac comes out.

In January, I had a period that really shocked me. I get painful periods every other time, so I don't remember my exact feelings, but I recall going to wash in the shower, and a large piece of mucous membrane came out of me. Pieces do come out normally, but this one was particularly big; I picked it up to have a look and nearly felt sick.

After that, my period ended as usual, and I forgot all about it, but recently I remembered, and it's been bothering me—could it have been a very early miscarriage?

My period ended a week ago, although it came almost 2 weeks late. For the last 3-4 months, I've been having delays, I constantly take tests - they're negative, but I haven't been to the hospital yet! I understand... it could be a hormonal imbalance, etc... but today, when I went to the toilet... a small, firm pink lump came out of me, about 2-3 cm in size! I got very scared, and now I'm really afraid and worried! WHAT COULD THIS BE? DOES IT LOOK LIKE A MISCARRIAGE?

You've probably found out by now what it could have been. Do share. It might have been a miscarriage. During a miscarriage, there can be a round egg-like thing, but it's usually a whitish-grey colour.

Yesterday, the monsters visited me too, and I still don't understand why. After the missed period and the subsequent cleanse, my cycle never really got back to normal, but this time, there was no sign of them on day 27, not even on day 31, and there were no symptoms except for my mood swinging sharply. Then I woke up and realised I might be pregnant. My breasts were so swollen and sore, and I was incredibly hungry, yet I never felt full. I spent the whole day lying down yesterday. I felt uneasy, and for good reason. I went to the pharmacy to get a test and had a bad feeling. Came home. Period. It started with spotting, then paused before coming back with a vengeance. I was in pain all night.

I'll share my story too. I'm married with two children, and after giving birth to the younger one, I immediately decided not to have any more kids—we couldn't handle a third. So, one day, I went to a dermatologist who prescribed Diane 35 for a hormonal imbalance. Naturally, I went to the women's clinic, got tests done, and consulted with a gynaecologist. I was supposed to come back for the results, but first, I needed to take a test to rule out pregnancy. I did everything and went in, but she wasn't there—she was on holiday. I didn't feel like explaining everything to the doctor covering for her, so I decided to wait for her return. However, since I'm quite indecisive, as soon as my period started, I immediately began taking the pills, following the instructions to the letter. I still don't understand when I managed to get pregnant. After finishing the first pack, my period was just spotting and lasted only four days, which is unusual for me, so I thought it was due to the pills. Then, as required, I took another pack and waited for my period. That's when I got stomach pains, like contractions—not too severe but quite noticeable—and my lower back was aching, even though my periods are usually painless. I went to the toilet, and something came out of me, a sort of lump, and I felt immediate relief; nothing hurt anymore, as if nothing had happened. Later, in the shower, another similar lump fell out. After that, my period lasted longer than usual; this happened in December. Then, my periods became regular again but with clots. Now, touch wood, everything has returned to normal. I must admit, I'm very careless about my health and never went to the doctor—I can always find a thousand reasons not to go to the hospital. Back then, it was the freezing December weather, no one to leave the child with, no appointments available, and many other excuses. So, that's how things went.

Don't have an ultrasound in the first few weeks. Only at 12 weeks. And even then, many have miscarriages after an ultrasound at 12 weeks...

I am 11 weeks pregnant. I have terrible pain in my lower abdomen and am experiencing bloody discharge. It's not just blood but also contains clots. I think it's a miscarriage. It's the weekend now, and I can't go to the hospital. Can you tell me if a test will show a negative result immediately or after some time? And what should I do now?

Alright, with miscarriages in general, it's all quite clear; everyone's experience is different, and there are some specific similar symptoms.

What I'm wondering is, if after a miscarriage, something remains "down there" that shouldn't be there? Can that happen or not?

And what complications could there be?

Girls... I caught a chill in my adnexa, went to the gynaecologist, no pregnancy was detected, but she prescribed me calcium gluconate, the so-called 'hot injection'. After the second injection, I started spotting blood, my stomach felt a bit tight, I thought my period had come, just four days early. And after the third injection, I barely made it home, there was so much blood, my jeans were soaked up to the knees. Nothing hurt. Tomorrow I'm going to the doctor to find out what that was all about...

I have already had 4 miscarriages, underwent examinations, and nothing was found—both my husband and I are completely healthy. After the first one, I was hospitalized at 6 weeks pregnant with toxemia; the head of the department performed an ultrasound and informed me that the fetus wasn't developing—he sent me for a curettage, but I refused. For a week, they tormented and convinced me it was necessary; I was in constant hysterics and depression, but a repeat ultrasound revealed everything was fine! They got scared and discharged me the same day, but my suffering and emotional stress later caused a miscarriage at 10 weeks. After that, I ended up in the hospital where a girl was undergoing induced labour at 23 weeks—her baby had a heart defect and was told it wouldn't be born alive. For two days, I helped her cope with contractions and pain; at night, labour started, but there were no doctors or nurses around—I ended up delivering the baby (who was born alive). After all this, I can't calm down; I have terrible nightmares at night, even though it's been 2 years. What should I do?!

I'm experiencing some kind of disruption. My period came late, starting on June 19th and ending on the 29th, although my usual cycle is 5 days. Then, for a few more days, there were pinkish discharges. Now, my period has arrived on July 17th, but it's very painful. The lower abdomen was unbearably sore for the first three days, and my lower back aches a bit. What could this be? Is it some kind of disruption? What worries me more is the 10-day duration of my period.

My stomach has been hurting for the third day, and today it's like contractions, but nothing is coming out, only drops of blood, and the pain is unbearable. Six months ago, I had a medical abortion. Now, I suspect I'm pregnant again; I took a test—two lines. A week later, I took another test—again, two lines. I haven't been to the doctor. The estimated gestation was about 4 weeks, with a 10-day delay. My boyfriend and I had sex at night, and in the morning, there was a heavy flow. My periods have never started so abruptly before. Now we're puzzled about what it was. Could it be a miscarriage due to the medical abortion six months before the pregnancy?

Girls, girls! All our problems come from the fact that we endure and are afraid to disturb someone! A woman's body is like a piece of glass that can't be glued back together; I'm sitting here at night, unable to sleep, wondering why on earth I've been bleeding for several months. Before this, I was seriously ill. Everywhere online it says that constant bleeding is a symptom of cancer. Ann, you absolutely must see a doctor, because if it was a miscarriage, you definitely need to have a clean-up.

Well, girls! I'm going through this myself right now, I'm 11 weeks pregnant! (Or was, I don't know). I woke up at 6 in the morning with severe pain in my lower abdomen, like contractions, my lower back was hurting, and it only got better in the 'crab' position with a pillow against my stomach. My common-law husband gave me 2 Ketarol tablets; usually, one pill helps me, but here I took two and nothing, the pain was just the same! We called an ambulance, they gave me two injections of Analgin and Papaverine. A day later, a similar situation occurred, but for some reason, the doctors don't think it could be a miscarriage! Girls, the pain is terrifying, hellish, you wouldn't wish it on your enemy, with blood clots, spotting, some strange grey shreds, and for 5 days, the blood has been flowing like a stream.
