Lymphocytes have been elevated for many years
I've had elevated lymphocytes for over 12 years now. And their count is gradually increasing. I never really bothered about it before, but then I decided to look it up online and it all started. I read about chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, where there might be no symptoms for a long time, just a slow increase in lymphocytes with normal other indicators. The doctors sent me for an Epstein-Barr virus test (infectious mononucleosis). As it turned out, I had it at some point. Simply put, more than half the world's population has had it. But not everyone has lifelong elevated lymphocytes. And growing ones at that. Does anyone else have a similar situation?

What are the indicators in absolute figures? i.e., not in percentages.

Total white blood cell count - 4.9; red blood cells - 4.54; haemoglobin - 138; band neutrophils - 2; segmented neutrophils - 36; eosinophils - 1; lymphocytes - 56; monocytes - 5; ESR - 7.

Your absolute lymphocyte count of 2.74 is normal. Don't worry, always consider the absolute lymphocyte count (cells), not the relative percentage (in %).

Thank you very much. In principle, the haematologist thinks so too. However, she still referred me to Kashirka to have some complex test done that is only performed there. I understand she's being cautious, but the very fact doesn't exactly add optimism. They found antibodies to the Epstein-Barr virus in me. Lymphocytosis is always present with it. But what's puzzling is that almost everyone has had it, often mistaking it for tonsillitis, yet not everyone has lifelong lymphocytosis. Moreover, it's increasing. I'd like to understand the cause, since I've finally gotten around to addressing this after so many years.)

Multiply the total white blood cell count by the percentage from the leukocyte formula. In this case, 4.9 * 0.56 = 2.74. Do this for all cell types. Lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, band neutrophils, segmented neutrophils—these are all white blood cells. Look it up online; it will be clearer. Don't panic, and good health to you!

I've got elevated lymphocytes too, they used to be 38-39% which was all considered normal, then I had a bad bout of herpes, and a month later my lymphocytes were up to 65%, leukocytes 7.2, absolute 4.6. Three months later I retested: lymphocytes 70, leukocytes 10, the GP sent me to retest, retested a week later lymphocytes 48, leukocytes 7.5, absolute 3.6. I went to a haematologist myself, and now they've sent me for lymphocyte immunophenotyping. Panic! And the GPs thought everything was fine. They didn't even pay attention.

Hello, my test says white blood cells are 7, and lymphocytes are written as 2.9 (41%). Does that mean 7 * 0.56 = 3.92, or how do I calculate it?
