Has anyone managed to …

Has anyone managed to cure onycholysis (nail separation from the nail bed)?

For 4 years now, the nail on my thumb has been lifting. I'm crying. I've seen many doctors, they diagnose it as a fungal infection and treat me for fungus. Of course, it's completely useless. It's not a fungal infection, but traumatic onycholysis. I've treated it with everything possible. Vitamins, oils, ointments. The nail barely grows back and then suddenly separates again in just one day. Has anyone managed to cure it??

I cured onycholysis in a month and a half with Clavio lotion and tea tree oil. The onycholysis started after two years of continuous gel polish wear. I applied the lotion not as per the instructions (twice a day), but about 30 times, and my nails literally drank it in. In the morning and evening, I used tea tree oil. The result: healthy nails with no trace of the horror that was there a month and a half ago.

I've read reviews about Clavio, many write that their nails improved. And it helps with onycholysis. Tea tree oil prevents fungal infections.

Because tea tree oil is excellent for disinfecting. Especially when with onycholysis, dirt gets stuck under the nails that's hard to remove.

I have the same problem. As a hobby, I do gel manicures for my girlfriends and their friends, and for myself, of course. Each girl has her own file, I use a steriliser, and I work with gloves. Unexpectedly, at the beginning of May, I felt some discomfort in my nails, a slight burning sensation when pressing on the nail plate. During a correction, I noticed that the free edge wasn't even, but it didn't raise any suspicions. I applied gel polish again. A couple of days later, I noticed that if I twisted the nail, it seemed to be detaching. I urgently removed the gel polish and was horrified. ALL 10 NAILS HAD DETACHED HALFWAY!!! And what did I do? Almost like all of you, I started googling. FUNGUS! FUNGUS! FUNGUS! I cried all night, tormented by thoughts of who I might have caught it from, and what if I had infected someone, since I take on a girl for a manicure every day after my main job. The next day, I went to the pharmacy, bought Terbinafine, Exoderil drops, some ointment, applied iodine at night, and did soda baths. I went crazy; I work in an office, my hands are always visible, and now I have no nails... In the end, after a week, my husband told me to stop self-medicating and booked me an appointment with a dermatologist. I went to the appointment, told everything as described here, and the doctor started yelling at me for taking such strong pills without a prescription and sent me for a test. AND IT SHOWED NOTHING!!! The dermatologist prescribed me to take 2 capsules a day of Special Merz Dragee and THAT'S IT! I only took these vitamins, didn't do anything else, and in 2 weeks, almost everything had cleared up. It's been a month now; I finished the vitamins 10 days ago, and my nails are in excellent condition. It's a shame I can't post BEFORE and AFTER photos here (I have them). In short, my advice to everyone is GO TO THE DOCTOR.

I had problems with all my fingernails. For 2 years I rubbed in everything possible. Then somehow I put a red thread on my wrist. I applied mango oil. And I prayed to the Three-Handed Theotokos. Everything grew back!
But now the problem has reappeared on 2 fingernails and toenails. After about 8 years. I'm currently recalling the old methods. But the causes are different. Back then it was after removing gel nail extensions, and now it's the aftermath of impacts.

Tell me, did you cut off the nails that had detached or did you apply Clavio directly like that?

I'm also curious. I almost trimmed the nail that came away - it softened a lot from the water at the seaside, so I had to cut it. I apply Clavio many times, plus tea tree oil, plus iodine, plus hydrocortisone. What bothers me most is that the nail hurts in that spot. Is it the same for you? Or doesn't it hurt?

I won't lie – I never had anything as severe as yours. My nails were just peeling and breaking a lot, then growing unevenly. I didn't go to "proper" doctors but visited a beautician who was qualified with a medical background. She recommended taking Famvital multivitamins (C, B, chromium, zinc, selenium, iron, etc. – things often lacking in the body when there are nail issues), applying compresses of sea buckthorn oil with tea tree oil at night (every other day), and coming to her for finger massages. I went for massages once a week and also massaged my fingers and nails myself a couple of times a week – there are techniques described online. After a couple of months, it all cleared up!

That's a controversial statement! After my pregnancy, which was 7 years ago, I've been suffering from onycholysis - if I cover my nails with regular polish, everything's fine, but after gel or even gel polish it's just awful, everything starts again, the nail separations from the bed are terrible, and on almost all nails too. I remove artificial coatings and over time the nails grow out and become normal. But I want to walk around like a normal woman with beautiful nails ((((

My nails have also separated from the gel polish. On my right hand, it came off on the thumb, and on the left hand, on the little finger. Tea tree oil helps EXTREMELY well!!!!!! For prevention, I first apply Mycoderil, wait half an hour, wash my hands with soap, and then apply the oil. Improvement is noticeable after the first treatment. The nails seem to have tightened up. On the little finger, a new nail grew within 10 days. On the thumb, it's still growing. I do all this once in the evening. I would do it in the morning too, but I don't have time.

At number 71, I continue to get a gel manicure. The technician is shortening my nails. I'm choosing muted tones.

Hello. I applied Clavio directly to my long nails without shortening them, because when I cut the nail before, the condition progressed further.
It's been almost 3 months now, I do manicures with polish. I wear gel for a maximum of a week, then take 2 days off. I use Clavio constantly, already on my 4th bottle during this time!
The condition of my nails has improved very much.

I'm ordering tea tree essential oil from iherb. They have 100% natural tea tree oil. Unlike what they sell in our pharmacies - you can't find the real stuff anywhere here

Don't panic and treat your nails. Stop using gel polishes or all polishes altogether and start doing potassium permanganate baths, because dirt gets trapped under nails in this condition, disinfect everything. Buy Clavio lotion specially for strengthening nails. I use the regular one, but recently when buying my fourth bottle I saw that there's one with extra additives too ) in general it's a really good thing! I cured my nails with it. And tea tree oil! If you can find natural in your city that would be brilliant! I order from iherb

I've treated it three times! Each treatment lasted 4-6 months, then I'd apply gel polish and it would all start over again🤦‍♀️ At first, I also thought it was a fungus, but my nail was excruciatingly painful—I couldn't sleep. The doctor immediately said it definitely wasn't a fungal infection, as they don't cause pain, but I insisted on getting tested. Everything came back clear. I was prescribed: 1. Akriderm Gent, to be applied and wrapped overnight, 2. To take Perfectil vitamins, 3. Once it grows out, to rub in Radevit. Gel polish seems to be off the table. Currently, I'm growing it out again, this time on a different finger. I hadn't applied any polish for 4 months, then I did gel polish and it all went to waste(( But this time, I removed it as soon as my finger started hurting, so the damage isn't too bad.

Same rubbish. I go for an electric file pedicure, the technician trims the nail in a special way so that it has no other growth options except towards the bed

Hi, I had nail extensions for several years with no problems at all! Then issues started – half of the nail is empty, I'm not treating it with anything, just filing it down to nothing. When they grow back, I just apply a gel coating.

The products they prescribe you are all complete nonsense. I've experienced it myself. I turned out to be allergic to the base for gel polish. All my nails lifted. I found the one and only miraculous solution: a nail cream made in Israel. Within a month, almost all my nails grew back. But initially, you need to remove all the empty space with tweezers. CLRT Active Nail Cream.

Of course, it can be cured and doesn't require lots of different medicines. There is one very effective oil. Write to me, and I'll give you the name. 0958894301

I went on like that for 1.5 years, hoping it would go away and heal on its own.
Eventually, I decided to remove the gel polish and started using regular polish instead.
I tried various soaks, tea tree oil, and Exoderil, but they caused an allergy and itching above my fingers, and my nails got even worse.
When one nail completely lifted, rising upwards with a 3mm gap underneath and turning dark, I finally stopped feeling embarrassed and booked an appointment with a podologist.
He trimmed that entire nail for me, prescribed compresses with chlorhexidine, and a bandage with Triderm at night.
As for the other nails, he said we'll keep an eye on them, but the main thing is not to apply any polish.
Minimise getting them wet and do housework with gloves on.

I've cured it!!!
Keep your fingers in warm water with sea salt.
Apply Smart Enamel nail polish to the nail plate.
And most importantly!!!! Frequently apply Tea Tree oil to the nails and under the nail.

For everyone experiencing this issue, visit a Podologist—a doctor specialising in nails. Firstly, you need to have debridement done! Secondly, apply oil (I've forgotten the name the doctor prescribed). Thirdly, you might need to wear a toe separator if there's pressure while walking.

It all cleared up for me in about 2-3 months. I took the fungal test four times – all negative. I treated it with Clavio, iodine, and tea tree oil. For the pain, red antiseptic solution really helped (I forgot the name))).

Girls, I'm having the same issue after gel polish... my nails are lifting from the nail bed... really hoping it's not a fungus, as it's such a hassle to treat, and my hands look awful, especially since they're always on display at work... I've booked an appointment with a dermatologist, feeling absolutely miserable... Please share your experiences, whether they were unfortunate or not so bad...

I also had one nail that came off initially, but that was due to trauma. Under gel polish, it all became quite unfortunate. I removed it and am now applying Clavio tea tree oil and taking salt baths as the doctor prescribed. Currently, I'm pregnant, and it seems like a healthy nail on my little finger is starting to lift. Everyone insists it's not a fungus, but I'm applying Exoderil. It seems to be growing back a bit better, but after any bath procedures, it lifts again right before my eyes. Does this ever go away? Honestly, I've even considered having it removed by a surgeon, thinking it might grow back properly. Has anyone had such an experience? How did it turn out?

If it's on both hands and feet - there's a chance it's fungal. You need to treat it comprehensively from the inside and outside. A good podologist will help you. Find a podologist in your city on Instagram. If you're from Kyiv I can help. Before going to the podologist, ideally, get a fungal test done at the skin and venereal dispensary. Or the podologist might take the sample themselves, check with the podologist if they do that procedure. If they do, then the podologist will do the sample collection themselves, clean everything up, and prescribe therapy. But all the details can only be said after examination and full medical history.

Find a good podiatrist in your city. After resection by a surgeon the consequences are most often very dire. If fungus has set in after the trauma, then resection won't change anything, and there could be very serious dystrophy of the nail bed. For accuracy you need an examination and full medical history. If you're in Kyiv, I can take a look

A podiatrist deals with this issue well, and sometimes together with a dermatologist and mycologist.

Excellent that you still went to a podologist. Only medications need to be prescribed individually. Causes and situations can be different. So it's better not to recommend to anyone what helped you specifically. Because it could harm someone else. A podologist will figure out the cause and will be able to help.
