Horrible heartburn …

Horrible heartburn during pregnancy

Can anyone suggest what might help? What can pregnant women take for heartburn? I just can't take it anymore. No peace day or night. It's literally making me vomit. I've been suffering for 4 days now, but my doctor's appointment isn't until the 16th.
With my first pregnancy I drank baking soda. It helped. But this time... I drank water with baking soda and absolute hell broke loose. Genuine contractions. I was writhing for over an hour. If I were 9 months along, I'd have thought it was starting. But the contractions were very frequent too. And I'm only 26 weeks. I got scared they were premature, but it stopped. Now I'm afraid to drink baking soda. Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not, but screw that.
What else can I try?

Gaviscon, Rennie. Baking soda is not allowed.

Lemon, lemon water, narzan, essentuki, sour sweets, green apples. Actually, I couldn't stand... These products helped me a bit, for a while. I even cried from the terrible heartburn. It went away on its own two days before giving birth.

No, not baking soda, but that... expensive mineral water, sold in pharmacies, I saw it at Pyaterochka. I'll write when I remember.

Lucky you. I was still getting it for about a week after giving birth. Though by then I wasn't paying attention to the heartburn anymore: the stitches from the episiotomy hurt much worse!

I remembered, "Donat". It helped me.

I too, when I recall, suffered terrible pains. I drank brewed coriander.

Milk, sipped in small sips. And I had heartburn from certain products, I eliminated them and it eased.

If you're only 26 weeks along, your heartburn is most likely due to your diet. You're not eating properly. Heartburn from organ compression starts later. I didn't take Rennie, I can't recall the name. Maalox, I remembered. The suspension.

Gaviscon and Rennie are the safest options. Avoid all sour, fried, salty, and smoked foods, eat very small portions, but it will only completely resolve after childbirth.

Author, I understand you! But I'm experiencing not just heartburn anymore, but a constant feeling of fullness in my stomach, especially when lying down. Although heartburn does occur too. And I'm eating regular food, I think it's from the pressure, even though my term is shorter than yours, but everyone's different. What helps: Phosphalugel (it's safe and provides long-lasting relief), raw carrots (eating small pieces gradually), and milk – though that's only temporary. Hang in there!! And try to eat small, frequent meals.

How could products that increase acidity help you - they make it worse, don't they? You're confusing something or you have gastritis with low acidity, in which case your advice to others will only do harm. You shouldn't have sour things with heartburn.

Go to the doctor urgently! This is exactly what happened to me, 100%. I kept looking for remedies, but when it got really bad, we called an ambulance, and at the gynaecology department they said severe toxaemia is dangerous for both the baby's and the mother's health. I was hospitalised for almost a month. Please consult professionals, not a forum—health is not something to joke about. Wishing you a comfortable pregnancy and an easy delivery.

A handful of unsalted, unroasted seeds can be quite helpful. As for medication, Rennie works well.

Rennie, milk, careful selection of foods (I've eliminated tea, coffee, heavy minced meat and meat dishes, and minimized salt and spices), and eating small portions. As for enduring it, my doctor strictly forbade me. She said that doing nothing is not an option; it must be alleviated, either with medication or a sip of milk. I have another issue—constant thirst. Nothing helps. I always feel like drinking, as if I've eaten a lot of salted herring.

Lemons and apples, for your information, alkalise rather than acidify. But mineral waters acidify, especially carbonated ones. Look up tables of alkalising and acidifying foods and the chemical reaction processes.

Hi girls. I suffered from heartburn for about 3 months after giving birth and didn't know how to get rid of it. But I found a great way to deal with it and recommend checking out this link: https://detkiexpert.ru/izzhoga-pri-beremennosti/. I hope this information helps you overcome that burning and very unpleasant heartburn.

What nonsense is this about sour apples and lemons? If I eat a sour apple, I can't breathe afterward because of such heartburn—it burns like fire.

And ladies, are you perhaps confusing heartburn with morning sickness?

Drink some soda; it will neutralize the acid in your stomach, and you'll get a burp like from a fizzy drink. After soda, heartburn never comes back. No doctor will recommend soda to you. But then, who would buy Rennie? And what's safer for the mother and the fetus: soda or the same thing in Rennie and others, but now with additives and preservatives?

How familiar this situation is... Third pregnancy... And the third time with the most severe heartburn... No matter the portion sizes I eat, whether small, large, or even by the teaspoon, no matter what food I consume—even dairy... Heartburn from everything, starting around the 16th week of pregnancy each time. Home remedies don’t help; milk works for 5 minutes, baking soda not only caused burping but worsened the heartburn after 7–10 minutes (so I don’t drink it now). Still mineral water doesn’t help either (even the expensive kind), Maalox helps for exactly half an hour, but I have to drink two sachets at once because one doesn’t relieve the heartburn. It’s the same story with Gaviscon as with Maalox. I get by with Rennie; nothing else helps anymore. To all pregnant women suffering from heartburn, I wish you patience and urge you not to torture yourselves under any circumstances! Be sure to relieve it, otherwise you’ll burn your esophagus and make things worse for both the baby and yourself. Health to you and your children.

Only eating small, frequent meals helped me. Dieting didn't work.
You need to eat little and often. Temporarily. Then it will get better.

I used to try not to pay attention to this issue, but now it's simply impossible because I'm three months pregnant and have heartburn every day that seems to come out of nowhere. But I've found a good remedy that's approved for breastfeeding and pregnant women – these are minty chewable tablets called Izgogoff. They help me get rid of heartburn in literally five minutes. I also read that they contain no sugar at all, so they're suitable for diabetics. If you compare prices with similar products, this one is the cheapest.

Ladies, I understand that everyone who has posted here has already given birth, but just in case it might help someone. I'm already 40 weeks along, and for half of that time, heartburn has been absolutely killing me. I never knew what it was before. I had some bad thyroid results, and everyone around me convinced me that it was my thyroid causing all the trouble. But then my body itself hinted at what it was and how to deal with it. I started eating chalk. I would have preferred the regular kind, but here we can only get the pharmaceutical type. I eat it when my body demands it, and the heartburn doesn't get a chance to return. The only downside is the burping it causes, but there's no pain at all. Maybe this will be useful to someone, as I couldn't find any information about chalk anywhere.

Ramni. It's an exact equivalent of Rennie in composition, just cheaper and the tablet is easier to chew. It was my only relief.

Two pregnancies, and both in the third trimester brought terrible heartburn:( During the first one, I took Rennies almost as a side dish with meals. This time, I tried nuts—hazelnuts, pistachios, walnuts. Firstly, they're very healthy, especially if you're getting leg cramps (that's why I bought them). And as a bonus, no heartburn!!! Just a handful as a little snack.

And if it's 33-34 weeks and the heartburn is a nightmare, then what should you do for heartburn?

Yes, many people have that problem. All my friends suffered from heartburn. It's not always the diet to blame; the main thing here is to relieve the symptoms as quickly as possible. Chewable tablets like Izgogoff help well; I always carry these tablets with me, just in case. My gynaecologist recommended them to me; they have a good composition, work quickly and gently, and are reasonably priced.

You need to get your blood sugar checked immediately.

I suffered from almost the beginning of my pregnancy, constantly chewing Adaxit tablets. Towards the end, I tried Omez tablets, and it's simply a miracle—one pill in the morning and you forget about heartburn for 2-3 days!

Lemons and acidic foods increase gastric juice secretion, so they shouldn't be consumed with heartburn. Alkali neutralises acid, like antacid remedies: Maalox, Rennie.

For your information, acid can't possibly alkalise by definition. And lemons and apples are acids: citric and malic respectively. Chemistry - Year 8!

Ladies, if you're suffering from heartburn, buy mint Rennie; if that doesn't help, my top choice is ice cream.
Ice cream is the best relief, give it a try.
I understand it varies from person to person, but in my case, it works really well.

No food helped, like milk and so on, as I was advised, then I bought Izgogoff – mint-flavoured chewable tablets, and the heartburn would go away after about five minutes.

This is my third pregnancy, and all three times I've had terrible heartburn, which doesn't depend on what I eat. Everything gives me heartburn. During my first pregnancy, I took Rennie, but it only helped a little. Mostly, I just endured it. In my second pregnancy, butter ice cream helped. This time, sunflower seeds have been effective—roasted and unsalted. The conclusion is, you won't know what will help until you try everything, and what works can vary from one pregnancy to another.

I get heartburn from mint Rennie too. Only the one without sugar, that one's okay (there's minimal mint there)

I was also saved by Rennie, and then in the perinatal centre a gastroenterologist prescribed tablets, in a plastic bottle, I can't remember the name, they're like omeprazole, but they're specifically for pregnant women!
Girls, maybe someone knows such ones... 🙏🏻 Really need them!!!
