Flu shot for a child.

Flu shot for a child.

It's now the time for flu shots. I've been wondering whether it's worth giving such a shot to a 3-year-old. I've been scared by various complications. But I also understand that the flu isn't so harmless. Does anyone have experience, who has given such shots to their kids, how did they handle it?

No, it's not worth it. Not now, not ever.

I got my first one at 2.5 years old and had no complications. My relative never vaccinated her son, saying her friend told her it was unnecessary—she doesn’t vaccinate her kids, and they don’t get sick. As a result, her son developed pneumonia at age 3 as a complication of the flu. They had to give him a ton of antibiotics. And she caught the flu from her child too. By the way, I get these vaccinations every year myself—I’ve never gotten sick.

This year, don't even think about it. They are currently testing a new domestic swine flu vaccine, and the guinea pigs are our children. It seems to be called Grippol. I just wrote a refusal at the kindergarten, and I advise you to do the same.

Grippol? New? Testing? Where have you been, darling? It's ancient. It's a vaccine, just like any other. No worse than Influvac or Vaxigrip. The composition of subunit vaccines is updated every year according to WHO recommendations. I think it's perfectly fine to give it at 3 years old. If you don't trust the domestic Grippol, get an imported one at a private clinic. No vaccine offers 100% protection against the flu, but if you do get sick, it will be much milder and the risk of complications is minimal.

To hell with such vaccines. If they lasted for at least 3-4 years, but it's every year. No, unless you want to make the pharmaceutical companies happy with a new outfit they'll buy with the money from your vaccine—then it's fine.

After the flu, children can have such terrible complications. I would get it done. Just not our Grippol, but for example, Vaxigrip.

A couple of years ago, they vaccinated children at a kindergarten where my friend's 4-year-old son attended. I don't know what kind of flu vaccine it was. But the entire group came down with a fever of 39-40°C the next day. That's just brutal. They gave everyone shots without asking the parents. This happened in a rural area.

Our doctor told us not to get the kindergarten's Grippol shot. We get Vaxigrip at the prevention center.

You probably don't go to daycare, right? During the epidemic, you'll be careful, won't be dragging yourselves to shopping malls, etc.

Decided, I won't vaccinate my children against the flu.

Don't get vaccinated. It greatly weakens the natural immune system, and no one knows what the consequences will be later.

We are 3 years old. My husband and I decided that it's not worth getting vaccinated, neither for ourselves nor for our child. Who can we trust in our country???.....

Absolutely not! Vaccines are a tricky business in general; one might consider taking risks, but at that age... no! There's a real possibility of unpleasant complications and consequences. It's better to take something preventive, like Anaferon, for example. I used it myself for treatment, and now I take it for prevention.

I got myself vaccinated against "swine flu." I handled it well. I'll vaccinate the children if I can catch a moment between colds, but only with an inactivated vaccine. You can't say for sure that you won't catch some other flu. Doctors say the best thing, better than any vaccine, is to wash your hands and nose with soap and rinse your mouth. This way, we wash away viruses that have landed on the mucous membranes.

My child is 10 years old. Today, they brought home a form from school where we need to either agree or disagree to the swine flu vaccination. I'm really torn: I'm afraid of causing harm both by getting the vaccine and by not getting it. We once got the regular flu shot, and everything went smoothly without any complications or illnesses. But as for this vaccine, I really don't know what to do. What if they're really conducting experiments on children?

I would think three times before vaccinating a child at that age. My sister with a two-year-old boy flatly refused to do it. They've been giving him children's Anaferon for a month now and she takes him to crowded places less often. They're happy and healthy, thank goodness.

You're right, I've thought about it not just three times, but probably a hundred. I've reread a lot of information on this topic. I've asked pediatricians questions. As a result, I've decided to hold off on these new vaccinations for now, because everyone says different things: some are "for," others are "against." And even though I've strictly followed the vaccination schedule for my child since birth, these new ones don't inspire my trust yet.

I have never gotten a flu shot in my life.

I got the flu every year or two.

Never had any complications, knock on wood.

The main thing is to rest it out.

Tomorrow I need to confirm or decline the flu shot for my child at kindergarten.

I think I'll decline. Vaccines aren't evil, but they're not a panacea either.

I also refused the vaccine, my pediatrician himself advised me to do so!!!!

I am generally in favor of vaccinations, but only sensible ones. We shouldn't rush to vaccinate children who haven't had time to adapt to a new environment, because, for example, Vaxigrip takes about two weeks to become effective after vaccination, and it's quite possible for a child to get sick during that period. For children not in high-risk groups, I recommend it—it's a good vaccine. A friend's three-year-old child had the flu in a very mild form.

We have a 5-year-old son who often gets sick. The kindergarten is going to have flu vaccinations, but my husband and I are afraid to vaccinate our son. I don't know what to do—should we do it or not?

It's impossible to give specific advice. But you can read additional information about flu vaccines at http://www.homeoint.org/kotok/vaccines/malady/flu.htm

Dear mothers!! The risk of complications from the flu in young children is veeeeery high! And don't compare it to those 0.02% (for example) probabilities of complications from the vaccine!!!! Think about YOUR child! Not about some mythical people who "will treat themselves to new clothes with your money"! I've already scheduled my one-year-old daughter for the vaccine. Protecting our children is in our hands!

Our entire family of six, except for the youngest son, got flu shots last year. Only the youngest got sick, and it was serious enough to require hospitalization. But those who were vaccinated enjoyed the winter to the fullest—skis, sleds, skates, we were outside every day. This time, everyone will get vaccinated. Sure, there was an occasional runny nose, but that was it...

I got the flu shot myself and feel perfectly fine, so I'll probably get it for my child too when they turn three, but only the French one and not the free one at the kindergarten.

I've already been vaccinating my daughter with Grippol for two years! And you say it's new?!

For my 2-year-old son, I add crushed garlic to his first courses for prevention, and for a runny nose, I put onion juice diluted with water in his nose! In my time, my mother treated me the same way, and honestly, I've only taken medicine once in my entire life—after an appendectomy!

Get it done, but first demand a written statement (from the doctor who administers the vaccine to your child) that they guarantee your child won't fall into the percentage of mortality from vaccine complications - YOU'LL SEE HOW EVERYTHING CHANGES INSTANTLY

Don't be afraid of anything. Feel free to use the subunit vaccine. It has the fewest complications. Among this group, I recommend choosing Grippol Plus or the quadrivalent vaccine, as I choose them myself. My little one is 2 years old, used to get sick often, but after getting vaccinated, everything became normal. The immune system resists viruses robustly.

I recommend doing it. At this age, the body is not yet fully capable of resisting viruses, so it needs help. Currently, Grippol Plus is the best and most accessible option. It worked perfectly for my kids. It didn’t cause any allergies and built an impenetrable defense against viruses. We’ve been vaccinating for two years now, and so far, not a single case of the flu.
#36
You're underestimating Grippol Plus. It works just as well as something like Influvac, since they use antigens from the same manufacturer, and it's safer than most alternatives. My son gets sick two to three times less often after vaccination. At most, he gets a common cold, not the flu. If you ever get vaccinated yourself, I recommend looking into Grippol Quadrivalent. It's a new-generation vaccine that protects against four types of the virus. For comparison, most other vaccines only protect against three flu strains.
