That is certainly not true. I'm currently experiencing the exact same delay with a negative test too. I've read that for some people, tests don't show pregnancy not just on the 3rd day of delay, but might not even show it after two weeks. It all depends on the body. In my opinion, you could very well be pregnant. It's better to wait a couple more days, and if your period doesn't start, go get a blood test for HCG or see a gynecologist.

I'm on my 3rd day of a missed period (this never happens to me), the test is negative, I have zero symptoms, and it's really scary.... It could be an anovulatory cycle (which happens 1-2 times a year), so I'm calmly waiting for my period.

My symptoms are like yours, except I also feel a bit nauseous, my areolas have darkened, and veins are visible on my chest. There was a delay, I took tests—they were negative, my stomach was pulling a lot, my breasts didn't hurt, and in the end, my period came. Wait a little longer, and if it doesn't come, get a blood test for hCG—that will give the most reliable result. And in general, try not to obsess over it, and everything will work out for you...
