teething

My baby is 3 months old and has bumps on the gums (upper incisors), showing teething symptoms (increased drooling a month ago, chewing on pacifier, putting everything in mouth). Could this be teething or am I overthinking it?? If yes, how long until they come in?

Yes, those are teething symptoms. My older one started at three months, but the tooth didn't come through until six months. Now my younger one is going through it. It can happen quickly, or it can drag on for months. I give mine a slightly chilled slice of green apple (from the fridge, for example) to suck on. That way she can scratch her gums, and the cold acts as a pain reliever. You can also give them green onion to chew—it has a soothing effect. All under supervision, of course.

We also had such symptoms at 2.5-3 months and struggled for a long time, but the first tooth only erupted at 4.5 months. They came in very painfully; the baby slept poorly, was fussy, and refused to eat, so we couldn't do without pain-relieving gels and a little Nurofen.

They'll be a while yet, they're tricky. They might start coming in and then just stop. For mine, all teeth only came through by 2.5 years (20 teeth). Pickled or salted cucumbers, the bumpy and cold ones, helped us. He didn't like store-bought teethers. We also had diarrhea with teething. The third day of diarrhea - the first tooth of a pair would emerge (they come in pairs, for us it started on the left side), and two weeks later the second tooth of the pair would come out, but without diarrhea.

One of the most effective folk remedies in European countries is amber teething necklaces for children.
Specially designed, durable amber beads for children are intended specifically to ease the teething process. All you need to do is place them around the child's neck.
Amber is a natural analgesic, and when worn on the body, succinic acid is absorbed through the child's skin, helping them endure teething painlessly and calmly. Amber necklaces are a natural remedy that allows you to avoid resorting to medication.
For the production of these children's necklaces, rounded polished beads are used, which are comfortable and safe for a baby's skin. This ensures maximum contact with the skin and provides additional comfort for your child.
Children's amber necklaces are perfect for both boys and girls.
The amber necklace can be worn by children aged from 3 months to 2 years and older—covering the entire teething period.
I bought mine here; there's a huge selection. They are very popular in Europe and America.

Do these miracle beads affect the bite, and are the teeth growing properly?

This seems like symptoms of the gums preparing for teething. However, this process can take anywhere from two weeks to two months. Usually, when a tooth is about to erupt, fever can be added to these symptoms. Of course, it varies for everyone, but when our baby was teething, he had a high fever up to 38°C. I gave him syrup and wiped his body with cooling wipes, T-Control. Special cooling wipes for regulating body temperature. Within half an hour, the fever would subside, and the baby would already be playing.

For us, teething was a very difficult period; thankfully, we were recommended Dentokind, which excellently relieved the pain and inflammation. Our son started sleeping well at night and eating noticeably better. As a mother, I'm pleased that the composition is harmless for the child. Dentokind suited us in every way.

Vera, these are still pills, and they definitely have side effects. Why take the risk? Maybe it's better to buy a teether—there are so many kinds available now, in different shapes and colors.

There may be many teethers available, but they are all very inconvenient. My son can't hold one for more than three minutes—it slips out, and I have to keep picking it up. I don't think this is a solution; maybe some medicinal remedies are indeed better.
Лонда
#11
I disagree with you, the teether is a very effective thing; it's the only thing that saves us. Ours is not just a teether, but a Wuffy mitten that attaches to the hand. It can be used both as a toy and as a teether.
Адриана
#12
Londa, I'm not quite following you. What kind of mitten is this that also doubles as a teether? I haven't heard of such a thing. As far as I know, a baby mitten is essentially an anti-scratch mitt.
Лонда
#13
Ah, the Wuffy mitten is indeed an anti-scratch mitten with a removable teether. So it's three in one: an anti-scratch mitten, a teether, and also a toy—the design is pretty cool.
Адриана
#17
Where did you buy such a mitten? I haven't seen anything like it in children's stores.
Лонда

I ordered through the online store Mama's Park, where, if I'm not mistaken, there's currently a special price on the Wuffy mitten. But generally, products from ROXY-KIDS can also be found in regular stores.

I don't know, mittens and beads aren't helping us at all, I don't understand how they help you. It's already evening, and the little one still won't settle down, she's being fussy. I have a feeling tonight will be a nightmare.

Why haven't you tried Dantinorm Baby? I thought everyone knew about these drops by now. It relieves a bunch of symptoms at once, both inflammation and it soothes. You just need to drop it into the mouth from the capsule, twice a day. That's all there is to it.

Anya, I have no idea. And will it really all pass? Sounds like fantasy.

It's French homeopathy, and they know their stuff about medicine. It has herbs in its composition, each herb for a specific symptom, so that's why it gives such a combined effect.

For us, for example, Dantinorm Baby was useless, didn't help at all.

Our first tooth came in at six months, and the child was terribly fussy. Ibuprofen-Akrikhin helped me cope, along with a gel for the gums. That was recommended by our pediatrician. Teethers with water also helped a lot, though only temporarily.

And so I'm in a dilemma, acetaminophen or ibuprofen? Acetaminophen didn't help us much, but the Akrikhin ibuprofen worked well, though I'm afraid of overdoing it.

...., it can be used from 3 months old, and the instructions specify its use specifically for teething.

I have both at home, but still, when the temperature rises above 38.5°C, I give medication based on ibuprofen to help the child feel calmer—it relieves pain and reduces fever effectively.

Neither teethers nor Calgel are helping us. The first night when my son screamed at the top of his lungs for about 10 minutes, I seriously thought about calling an ambulance and the emergency room together. About four times a night, he wakes up and screams as if he's being cut. With my older kids, I didn't even notice the teething process at all. Tonight is the second night—hopefully, the neighbors won't call the police)))

Nowadays, there are many different teething medications, but after reading the ingredients of some, I was disappointed—they contain local anesthetics, which are really not advisable for little ones. Later, I found out there’s a gel based on hyaluronic acid that both soothes and speeds up teething—Gengigel Teething. It really helps the child forget about the pain.

Good evening, girls. When the gums are preparing for teeth, does the child become fussy? Mine is crying, getting irritable—could it be because of teething?

I don't recommend resorting to medication without consulting a doctor... maybe you could try other brands? I recently bought a Chicco teether from the Fresh Relax line for my little one (we're 4 months old). It worked wonderfully for us—hardly any crying, and he chews on it with pleasure. Most importantly, it has a convenient shape and fits easily in a tiny hand.

Of course, teething! Ours started early too. How long they'll wiggle before coming through is really individual. For some, this whole ordeal can last up to two months. It's definitely tough on the little one, so it's best to stock up on teethers to soothe those inflamed gums. My little one loved the Chicco cherry teether—it has a special liquid inside that you can cool in the fridge, which gives a good pain-relieving effect.

Oh, it's not an easy time for me. Just thinking about it makes me shudder. I used Cholisal gel, which helps reduce pain and inflammation. I applied it according to the instructions, and my little one didn't cry as much—he was able to eat and sleep. I can't imagine how our grandmothers managed without any such remedies.

I'm also for Cholisal. They recommended it to me at the pharmacy, said it's the most commonly bought, so I decided to try it. We finally sleep at night now, otherwise it was a real nightmare.

When my daughter was teething, the whole house knew about it—she screamed terribly and was very fussy. We were recommended Cholisal gel, which has anti-inflammatory properties. The pain subsided after applying the gel, and it was clear from the child that she felt better. A big plus is that it doesn’t contain lidocaine—I saw from Dr. Komarovsky that it’s better not to use products with this ingredient.

Teethers don't always help. When the gum is already swollen and the tooth is cutting through it, the pain is so bad that the child completely refuses to chew anything.
And as for Dentokind, it's homeopathy based on plant components. If the child is really suffering, why not use it?!

I personally used Cholisal when my daughter started teething. The gel makes it much easier; it both alleviates the pain and reduces inflammation! Plus, it doesn't contain harmful lidocaine, which is banned in some countries!

We bought Dentokind and have been using it since the very beginning of the "teething saga." The pediatrician prescribed it for us, and we didn't even try anything else. It turned out to be very effective and quick to help. Overall, Dentokind 100% helped my child!

When we were almost 4 months old, I also started noticing the same symptoms: drooling like a river, putting everything in the mouth, and fussing for no reason. It really was teething. My daughter was very fussy. The pediatrician then recommended Dentokind to relieve the pain and swelling of the gums. It's a very effective medication! Give it a try.

We're 10 months old, and the first tooth is coming in now, high fever all day, I'm also giving ibuprofen, putting in Viburcol suppositories and applying Kalgel on the gums. As soon as the medicine wears off, the temperature shoots right back up... we haven't slept the first night here.

My granddaughter is 5 months old today, her drooling started flowing like rivers a couple of months ago. The scariest thing is that her temperature has been spiking instantly high for 2.5 weeks now. The most confusing part is that her upper canines are swollen, which are supposed to start coming in around 1.5 years old. We got tests done, showed them to three different pediatricians and they all say in unison the tests aren't bad, maybe it's a virus plus teething. We gave medicine for the virus but the temperature still spikes. No runny nose or cough.
