I had a really bad runny nose, my nose was completely blocked. In such cases, only vasoconstrictor drops help me. But now I'm pregnant. I held out as long as I could, but not being able to breathe at all is just impossible, you understand. I used Nazivin for 4 days, no more than 2-3 times a day. Only then did I start feeling like a human being. But I've heard that vasoconstrictor drops are harmful to the baby. But isn't it harmful for the mom not to breathe? That I'm lacking oxygen, and so is the baby. Who used drops during pregnancy? Is everything okay with you and your babies?
Use moisturizing drops and pinosol. The effect won't be very strong, but it will still be more pleasant. Because you'll get used to vasoconstrictor drops, and then it will be hard without them regardless of pregnancy.

My ENT allowed me to use Nasonex 3-4 sprays a day.

My doctor advised me to use Snoop in critical situations; it's both a decongestant and therapeutic, give it a try. Another quite good remedy is Nazol Baby, also a decongestant but for children from 1 year old and accordingly milder than adult versions, but the effect, especially at night, is definitely there!
Now about the contraindications, they write this because sufficient research hasn't been conducted, so they write it to protect themselves in case something happens. I read in a pregnancy magazine that decongestants can raise blood pressure, which is why they're dangerous (besides the risk of dependency), so if you have a tendency towards high blood pressure, you shouldn't use them.
Nothing but Grippferon is allowed. That's what my doctor told me. The outcome is 50/50. It's better not to risk it, honestly.

You can use Pinosol, but it's better to avoid Sanorin.

During my pregnancy, I had a runny nose several times. I couldn't breathe at all, especially at night. The gynecologist allowed me to use decongestants, just not too frequently. You definitely won't get addicted to them in just 3-4 days. As for Pinosol and Grippferon, they don't relieve the swelling at all.
I used the drops early on, and a miscarriage occurred. Whether the drops played a decisive role is unknown, but I will not use the drops during my next pregnancy.

Veronica, I'm also pregnant and have the same problem. My doctor prescribed Pinosol (I live in the Czech Republic), I don't know what they prescribe elsewhere. Then try rinsing your nose with salt water or chamomile tea, but don't put drops in, just rinse. Alternatively, during pregnancy, you can use the skin from 2-3 onions (only the outer layer), wash it, cover with a small amount of water, bring to a boil, and cook until the liquid becomes a rich orange color. Put the cooled liquid in your nose as often as you can, but don't use it for more than 3 days. Good luck!

I wasn't allowed to use nasal drops. So I endured the runny nose (my nose was very stuffy). I toughed it out for a week and everything turned out fine.
By the way, girls, acupressure really helps a lot with a runny nose. It relieves the symptoms in just 3 minutes, though it only lasts for about 3-4 hours. But if you're having trouble sleeping because of a stuffy nose, it's perfect. Here's the diagram: only the top two points on the first illustration match, but the bottom one doesn't. I was taught to massage the earlobes. http://www.medmas.ru/9_kitaiskii/9_13.htm

Buy Rinaldix, these are homeopathic drops that quickly cure a runny nose, and they are safe for pregnant women.
Actually, there are doctors you should consult in such situations.
AquaMaris was quite enough for me. Harmless water. You can rinse your nose with saline solution.
It might be harmful or it might not... It could be, or it might not be. There's a reason they're prohibited for pregnant women. It's strange that you did it first (even though you knew you shouldn't) and now you're asking.

Alice, why don't you try an experiment: stick two corks up your nose and see how long your patience lasts walking around like that. Trust me, when you're short of oxygen, you don't have the strength to wait for a doctor's appointment. You probably haven't been in such a situation. Consider yourself lucky.

Veronica, as I understand, you've already recovered from your cold? Then don't waste any time and start with prevention! Use Aqua Maris a couple of times a day, or buy a Dolphin and rinse your nose morning and evening—it'll lower the chances of getting sick again. As for those who recommend Aqua Maris and applying a hot egg DURING a cold, they probably haven't suffered that much. I seriously wanted to just lie down and die; decongestants saved me :))

I've been using baby Tizin for 17 weeks now, and I'm really scared of the consequences. I don't know what to do, but enduring it isn't good either—it's tough to suffer while pregnant. I've seen an ENT specialist twice, and they prescribed one medication that didn't help at all. Please help me get better or reassure me about the drops. And if the drops have already had an effect, how would that show up? All my tests are fine, the doctors say.

I used Naphthyzine for about 8 years before getting pregnant, then switched to children's Otrivin—one spray at night, otherwise I can't sleep and feel like I'm suffocating. My test results are normal so far. I'm worried myself—we're at 15 weeks.

During my first pregnancy (9 years ago), I used Nazivin from 28 weeks until delivery, as prescribed by the doctor. There was no runny nose, just nasal congestion, especially when lying down, and there were no consequences—everything was completely fine. Now I'm using Nazivin again for the same issue; since 27 weeks, my nose has been congested without a runny nose, making it impossible to breathe! For a runny nose, a good treatment is cotton swabs dipped in honey placed in each nostril alternately for about 20 minutes, 3-4 times a day!

I recommend PALM OIL to everyone—put three drops in your nose twice a day, two hours before bedtime. This oil is packed with vitamins, but it's not available in every pharmacy and it's not cheap. It helps me with both my runny nose and my habit of using drops, and it can help everyone.

I've been using nasal drops for many years. The issue is with a deviated nasal bone. During my first pregnancy, I used them and everything was fine. Now I'm using them again. They're prohibited because they raise blood pressure, but I simply can't survive without them.
At 26 weeks, I have a terrible runny nose and can't breathe through it. I've tried everything—menthol and other balms, as well as home remedies, but I can't tolerate them. At night, I use children's drops, alternating between xylometazoline or galazolin, and nothing else helps. I don't know how this will affect the baby. The doctors say such pregnancies happen. I deeply sympathize with others in the same situation!

How I understand you, girls! This problem started for me at 29 weeks. I would jump up at night like a madwoman and pace around the apartment, terrified of suffocating. My nose was completely blocked! The doctor only allowed me to use children's drops in case of urgent need, but I can't fall asleep without them! So I've been using them every night for three weeks now... I pray to God that my little one won't be harmed, but I just can't bear suffocating every night! To all expectant mothers, patience and, most importantly, a healthy baby!

And I have no idea what's going on with my nose: is it an allergy to dogs or is it related to pregnancy?? I'm walking around suffocating, I can't live without drops!! I spray once and I'm fine all day, but by bedtime it's blocked again, as if I just caught a cold, but I'm not sick at all!! I'm 10 weeks pregnant and also worried about the baby; this is my third pregnancy, the first two were unsuccessful!! I'm really afraid to use drops, but I read that it's okay to use TIZINE!!

I don't have a runny nose, just dry congestion, and only Xymelin helps. It's safe for pregnant women, and the therapist also prescribes children's medications to avoid harming the baby.
Instead of drops, you can take Sinupret. It has the same effect as the drops. But first, you should consult with a doctor.

It's normal for pregnant women to have swollen mucous membranes, as my ENT and gynecologist told me. I need to use drops but not overdo it... especially if my nose is completely blocked because it affects how well the blood is oxygenated... I use Sanorin, but rinsing doesn't help me... I'm 7 weeks pregnant and don't know what will happen next!

...and there are also runny noses of various origins: viral, inflammatory, allergic, or as often happens in pregnant women, swelling due to hormonal changes... THE MAIN THING IS TO MAKE THE CORRECT DIAGNOSIS! Then you'll figure it out from there.

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing shortness of breath for 3 weeks. I visited an ENT and allergists who prescribed Nasonex and Derinat, but nothing helps. I don't use drops during the day, but at night I use children's Nazivin. I'm afraid of becoming dependent on it, and I still have allergic rhinitis ahead. Can anyone suggest what to do?????

The ENT will say it's pregnancy rhinitis. Homeopathic prescriptions helped me. Consult a classical homeopath, or as a last resort, go to the Homeopathic Center on Vladimirovskaya. They relieved my swelling during the first trimester.

I'm also suffering terribly... Before pregnancy, I used drops constantly because I couldn't manage without them at all =( Now, naturally, my nose gets stuffy without a runny nose too, and only vasoconstrictors help =(((( I'm really worried about this, but I don't know what to do... Everyone says it's not allowed, but no one knows what to do either... It's like a vicious cycle =((( The ENT only prescribed Aquamaris Strong - it's as useful as milking a billy goat, I'm suffocating... Now my throat hurts from breathing through my mouth =( I don't see any good in this.... Anyway, we're at 12 weeks, and I don't know what to do. The gynecologist seemed to allow using children's drops, but with all these strict prohibitions, I'm incredibly worried about the baby =(((((

Oh girls, I totally understand you all. I'm 15 weeks pregnant and I use nasal drops at night and once during the day because it's simply impossible to live otherwise. I tried to tough it out and ended up catching a cold, my throat started hurting, and I got terrible headaches, so I started using the drops again. I'm incredibly worried about the baby, but I don't know what to do; the doctors' prescriptions and advice aren't helping. And if anyone has already given birth and used drops, please write to us sufferers.

The same thing, from the first week, my nose is completely blocked, plus there's constantly running mucus. I'm always carrying tissues, and breathing through the mouth is impossible. I used Galazolin drops, and now I've switched to Xylen. I try not to use them more than three times a day. At the consultation, they told me to endure it. It's easy for those who haven't experienced it to say that. They also said that breathing through the mouth is worse than through the nose because the air doesn't get warmed and cleaned as it should. And if choosing between drops and suffocation, drops are the lesser evil. I don't know what will happen next, but I hope for the best. If it pleases the Lord, our little ones will be healthy :-)

I completely understand you!!!! I'm currently dying from lack of oxygen myself, my nose hasn't been breathing for two days, my mouth is constantly dry, and it's just unbearable now. I'm also thinking of using a spray like Snup or Otrivin.... I won't be able to sleep tonight without being able to breathe:(
You know, if I hadn't come here, I wouldn't have known that so many people worry about nasal sprays. I'm an allergy sufferer and have always used them. I'm 23 weeks pregnant, my nose often gets stuffy, and my allergist prescribed Nasonex for two weeks and Aqua Maris, which doesn't help at all. If you're not aware, look up Nasonex—they say you should check the baby's kidneys later, and you're talking about Snoop. I use it often because antihistamine sprays like Nasonex aren't recommended for more than two weeks, but what can I do if my allergies flare up again? There's darn wormwood everywhere. Well, I'm thinking of trying the children's version of Snoop or Xylometazoline. And here's some advice: don't dwell on the negative, read less of that nasty stuff, and moms should feel comfortable during pregnancy too. So, happiness to you, girls, and health to your little ones!!!

Regarding the advice to rinse with egg whites, heating salt works significantly better, tested on myself))
Regarding Nazonex... it's written in the instructions, and doctors also say that it can be used for a long time, exactly half a year.. but I find it strange that it's prescribed to pregnant women, since it's a hormonal medication.. I was prescribed it as part of comprehensive treatment for vasomotor rhinitis caused by a deviated nasal septum.
Regarding vasoconstrictors.. I've been using them for about 12 years now, because of this same vasomotor rhinitis; when I don't use them, my head hurts a lot due to nasal congestion, and I simply can't function with a stuffy nose. Currently, I'm about 6-7 weeks pregnant and trying to switch to children's drops, but everything got complicated by a cold.. I use them quite frequently, about 4-5 times a day.. I'm planning to see an ENT specialist tomorrow, but I'm afraid they'll start recommending Aquamaris and Pinosol, which, like for many here, don't help me..

So you probably need to take some Zyrtec, and treat your cold as well. Actually, my doctor says that if your nose is really stuffy, it's better to use Snup than to endure it, because it's not very good for the baby either if mom isn't feeling well.

Hello everyone. I've been using nasal drops since I was 13, starting with Galazolin and now Naphthyzin. I want to mention that I went through two pregnancies while using these drops, without any complications or negative effects. My children are now 13 and 10 years old, and the only concern is that they also have constant issues with nasal breathing, but given our environment and frequent colds, that's not surprising. Also, many ENT doctors say that old and basic Naphthyzin causes much less harm than trendy products like Snoop, Otrivin, and Tizin, as they are relatively new and not well-studied yet. You can read more about this online if you're interested. Another good option is Noxspray, which contains oxymetazoline, the same active ingredient as in Nazivin, and it can even be used for infants from their first days. Of course, there's a risk of becoming dependent on drops, but if used wisely and with breaks of a few days, I think pregnancy can be easier to manage.

I've had nose problems since school, and during my second pregnancy, I couldn't breathe at all. I used whatever drops I could get my hands on (even naphthyzine), and in the ninth month, I found out that you shouldn't use them at all...
Everything resolved on its own after giving birth. By the way, I poured in the last rescue decongestant liters during labor. Yes, it's not allowed. And I'm in no way suggesting you follow my example. My confession is for those who have already used the drops and are worried about what will happen. Relax)) and go seek advice from a doctor.

During pregnancy, various situations can arise. Sometimes, the nose gets so congested that you can't manage without drops. A mother who can't breathe isn't good for the baby either. So, you have to choose the lesser of two evils. Yes, drops are bad. But if you rinse your nose with something like Aqualor before using them, then apply children's drops instead of adult ones, and use them only once or twice a day for no more than three days, I don't think you'll cause much harm to the baby. However... this should only be in exceptional cases; otherwise, it's better to stick with just rinsing.
