Hello. Has anyone else had diarrhoea during pregnancy? I had it, it was practically just water, awful. I got so worried. I'm 26 weeks now. Didn't eat anything unusual, I've already gone through everything in my head. Can't figure out what caused it? Pregnant women mostly get constipation. But I had diarrhoea. Please don't make sarcastic comments on purpose. Thank you.
So, does a pregnant woman have a special resistance to viruses, the main causes of gastroenteritis? It only takes a couple of Rotavirus particles—the most common agent—left on any object you later touch, and voilà—diarrhoea.

The virus is the primary cause of diarrhoea. If someone touches a hand carrying a few particles from any object, you catch it—there you have it, diarrhoea.

It happens. Take some Imodium, and happiness will follow. I had stomach flu myself, and still, I gave birth to a healthy child.

Diarrhoea is even worse than constipation. You must inform the doctor; it's serious and needs to be stopped. At this stage, Imodium is allowed.

Better the runs than constipation, what are you on about?? It's no great pleasure walking around with a backside full of solid crap, and then having to give birth to it in the toilet with your eyes popping out of their sockets....

Hello! I'm 31 weeks pregnant. Yesterday evening, I had an apple and some cottage cheese.
By morning, I had diarrhoea. I've been running to the toilet all morning with loose stools.
I'm very worried about the pregnancy. Could you advise on how to manage without medication?
Is just rice water enough? Thank you in advance!

6. Alice, have some more pomegranate, brew pomegranate peel tea, and until the diarrhoea stops, eat nothing but rusks and pomegranate rice. Drink plenty of fluids - mineral water and dried apricot compote (potassium helps retain fluids).

Dissolve a spoonful of starch in a glass of water. However, the opposite effect might occur. I had the same thing during my pregnancy for 3 days, and everything was fine.

Hello. I'm 21 weeks pregnant, and yesterday I ate an apple and some barbecue. Could that have caused my diarrhoea? Could you suggest something I can take to make it go away? I've been to the toilet three times already today.

I also had diarrhoea after the barbecue on May 9th, it was practically water flowing out. I link it to the meat! Seems okay now though.

Take four activated charcoal tablets with water. It's essential to stop diarrhoea as quickly as possible. And drink plenty of fluids to replenish the body's loss of water.

For me, it's such a relief when I have diarrhoea!!! At least it's not constipation!!! I either have constipation or diarrhoea!!! With diarrhoea, at least there's no risk of haemorrhoids, well, the likelihood is much lower!!! I didn't know it was serious, to be honest. I'm already in my 8th month, and it's either a pebble once every 3 days or water flowing for 2 days... The doctor just shrugs...

Dear Lucky! I had the same issues, namely diarrhoea, tried everything, various decoctions and pills didn't help! At the women's clinic, one lady recommended "Polysorb" to me, I immediately bought it at the pharmacy and started taking it. Now I'm not suffering anymore))))!!!!
Have we learned how to make medicines? Somehow, I find that hard to believe. Perhaps there's a forum online where this medication is discussed? I want to learn more about new developments; I'm tired of taking everything indiscriminately...

I've looked it up, seems like it!) http://www.polisorb.ru/ru
I had it. My stomach was terribly painful for half the night, then came the diarrhoea. Nothing serious happened. I didn't take any pills, it went away on its own.

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and sometimes have diarrhoea. But this time it's with a fever and severe headaches. I'm drinking plenty of fluids, as one would for a cold - blackcurrant, tea with lemon and honey. It's not helping :( Should I take some antibiotics?
Horror! 38 weeks and then this happens—2 days, just water and vomiting... Charcoal, tea, Smecta aren't helping... What should I do??? They say it could be before childbirth. Please advise what to drink.

My stomach was hurting yesterday, and by this evening, I've had diarrhoea twice already. I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and I'm scared... My general condition is fine, and nothing hurts today.

I am 19 weeks pregnant and had diarrhoea for two weeks, even though I didn't eat anything unusual. Rice water, pomegranate peel infusion, and blueberry jelly helped me. To restore electrolyte balance, it's essential to drink dried fruit juice!
I have the same problem, I've been suffering for the 6th day already(((! I'm eating rice and bananas, but it's not helping. I've never heard about pomegranate peels before, please tell me how to make this decoction, maybe it will help... I'm 21 weeks along.

There's another simple method—swallow a black peppercorn, it helps 100% and is completely harmless))))

And does anyone know if dairy products are okay to consume?

And I have a six-year-old child, and we decided to have a second one. I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant. A week ago, I had terrible diarrhoea, and my doctor (a very good specialist with 30 years of experience) advised me to take 'Enterol' in sachets (when Smecta doesn't help) and 'Enteros gel' on an empty stomach or two hours before meals—one dessert spoon with water. This medication is recommended to many of my friends who are also expecting, and I highly recommend it; it helped immensely, and by the next day, everything was gone! :))) Wishing everyone good health! :)))

I am 27 weeks pregnant. I had vomiting in the afternoon (even though morning sickness ended about 3 months ago), and by evening, diarrhea started... I can't figure out what caused it. This is the second time I've had diarrhea, so I've learned my lesson—I bought some medicine, Bifiform, which needs to be taken twice a day, two tablets each time. I've taken two tablets and hope it helps. Tomorrow, I have a journey (3 hours by car), and I'm really worried something like this might happen on the way. Can you advise if it's okay to take Imodium in an emergency?

Smecta has been my saviour when I've had an upset stomach. It's harmless, after all—it's even prescribed for infants. And there are no contraindications for pregnant women either.

Oh, girls!!! I thought I was the only one like this!!! Seriously, on the first day, I ran to the toilet more than 10 times!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else experienced this??? Now it's the second day, and I'm still suffering))) I took Linex, and now I'm brewing pomegranate peels! At least I'm going to the toilet less often!!! And the hospital is full of stupid idiots!!!!!!

By the way, same as many others at 21 weeks)))))))
I thought I was the only one like that too; I drank charcoal and so far, nothing seems wrong, but it's still rumbling. I'm also at 21 weeks.

I've had diarrhoea since last night and have been running to the loo all day. During the day, I called my doctor for advice on what to take. He told me to call an ambulance immediately and not to self-medicate. In the evening after work, I called an ambulance, they took me around hospitals, and said I'd be admitted for at least 10 days – I'd been poisoned by yoghurt. A doctor came out, examined me, and said: "A young girl with the runs has got the ambulance service all worked up, and didn't even think to drink activated charcoal."

Oh girls, please help me out! Everyone else is at 27, 31 weeks, and I'm just at the very beginning, only my second week, and I've got terrible diarrhoea. I used to rely on loperamide before, but now I can't take it...((( Has anyone else experienced this early in pregnancy? Everyone I talk to seems to have constipation at the start, but I'm suffering, and I still have to go to work! I'm worried if everything will be alright. Please help me out, girls!

I'm pregnant and have a temperature of 37, diarrhoea, and vomiting. What could this be? Could it be diarrhoea? What should I do?

Girls, I literally had the exact same problem three weeks ago (vomiting, a temperature of 37, terrible diarrhoea).... and it all lasted for five days. At that time, I was 17-18 weeks pregnant.... I only managed with rice water, mineral water, crackers, and I took Bifiform. And by the way, I strictly followed the so-called diet the doctor prescribed: no dairy products, nothing fried or spicy. You can have porridge made with water and everything steamed... but honestly, I was afraid to eat, so I only had rice with crackers and strong tea.

Today, I've been struck by this diarrhoea and vomiting as well. I drink water, and it flies right back into the toilet... I feel weak and have a headache. I don't know what to do... help. I don't want to go to the hospital—they'll put me in the infectious diseases ward, and there you can catch a whole bouquet of germs.

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my second child. I've been feeling nauseous all day!!! I haven't registered with a doctor yet. I'm about to try self-medication. All I have from what's been mentioned is charcoal and a show. Does anyone actually know if it's really that dangerous? I wasn't worried before, but as soon as I went online, I read all sorts of horror stories.

I've been prescribed Bactisubtil for diarrhea and 2 tablets of activated charcoal three times a day... My stomach is rumbling so loudly it's like a thunderstorm outside. I'm at a loss for what to do; it feels like my intestines are about to burst out...

And I've got something quite odd going on. I'm 25 weeks pregnant. For over a week now, I've had loose stools. Not exactly diarrhoea where you're rushing to the nearest toilet with wide eyes, but just loose stools. I go as usual – once or twice a day. But each time, it's a liquid mush. No cramps, no gas, no vomiting, no fever. It's just been going on for a while now. Starting to worry...

It turns out I'm not alone... I'm at 17-18 weeks, and I've had diarrhea for two days. I don't think I ate anything unusual... I called the doctor today, and she recommended Smecta, to take one sachet after each trip to the toilet. I took it, my stomach gurgled a bit and then nothing, it's quiet for now... I wish it could be without extremes, it's either constipation or diarrhea...

Diarrhoea in girls is also a common occurrence during pregnancy, just like constipation, and it depends on the individual. Certainly, food poisoning from poor-quality food can be a cause. But if you rule that out, pay attention to the colour of the stool; if it has a greenish tint, it's likely that your diarrhoea is caused by an excess of bile secretion. This is a result of high levels of oestrogens (female hormones during pregnancy), so don't panic; sometimes this can cause cramps in the right upper abdomen.
