Pregnancy and …

Pregnancy and diarrhea(((

Hi. Has anyone had diarrhea during pregnancy? I had it, it was almost all water, awful. I got so worried. I'm 26 weeks now. Didn't eat anything weird, already went through everything in my head. Can't figure out why? Pregnant women mostly get constipated. But I got diarrhea. Please don't make sarcastic comments on purpose. Thanks.

So, does being pregnant grant special immunity to viruses, the main causes of gastroenteritis? It only takes a couple of Rotavirus particles—the most common agent—left on any object you later touch, and voilà—diarrhea.

The virus is the primary cause of diarrhea. If someone touches a hand carrying particles from any object, you catch it—congratulations, you've got diarrhea.

It happens. Take some Imodium, and you'll be fine. I actually had a stomach flu myself, and it was okay; I gave birth to a healthy child.

Diarrhea is even worse than constipation. Be sure to inform your doctor; it's serious and needs to be stopped. At this stage, Imodium is allowed.

It's better to have diarrhea than constipation, what's wrong with you?? It's no fun walking around with a butt full of hard crap, and then giving birth to it in the toilet with your eyes popping out....

Hello! I am 31 weeks pregnant. Yesterday evening, I ate an apple and some cottage cheese.

By morning, I started having diarrhea. I've been running to the toilet all morning with loose stools.

I'm very worried about my pregnancy. Can you advise how to manage without medication?

Is just rice water enough? Thank you in advance!

6. Alice, have some more pomegranate, brew pomegranate peels, and until the diarrhea stops, eat nothing but crackers and rice with pomegranate. Drink plenty of fluids—mineral water and dried apricot compote (potassium helps retain fluids).

Dissolve a spoonful of starch in a glass of water. However, a reverse effect is possible. I also had this during my pregnancy for 3 days, and everything was fine.

Hello. I'm 21 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I ate an apple and some barbecue. Could that have caused my diarrhea? Please tell me what I can take to make it go away. I've been to the bathroom three times today.

I also had diarrhea after eating shashlik on May 9th, it was practically water flowing out. I think it's related to the meat! Seems okay now though.

I actually have a whole problem.

Take 4 activated charcoal tablets with water. Diarrhea needs to be stopped as quickly as possible. And drink plenty of fluids to replenish the loss of body fluids.

For me, it's such a relief when I have diarrhea!!! At least it's not constipation!!! I either have constipation or diarrhea!!! With diarrhea, at least there's no risk of hemorrhoids, well, the probability is much lower!!! I didn't know it was serious, to be honest. I'm already in my 8th month, and it's always either pebbles once every 3 days or water flowing for 2 days... The doctor just shrugs...

Dear Lucky! I had the same problems, namely diarrhea, tried everything—various herbal decoctions and pills, nothing helped! At the women's clinic, one woman recommended "Polysorb" to me. I immediately bought it at the pharmacy and started taking it. Now I'm not suffering anymore))))!!!!

"Polisorb"? Seems like a new Western drug. And probably outrageously expensive too...

The medicine is ours! And it's affordable, my husband buys it for me. I know one thing, health is more important!)

Have we learned how to make medicines? Somehow I find that hard to believe. Maybe there's a forum online that discusses this medication? I want to learn more about new products, I'm tired of taking whatever's available...

I had it. My stomach hurt terribly for half the night, then came diarrhea. Nothing serious happened. I didn't take any pills, it went away on its own.

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and sometimes have diarrhea. But this time, it's accompanied by a fever and severe headaches. I'm drinking plenty of fluids, like for a cold—currant juice, tea with lemon and honey. It's not helping :( Should I take some antibiotics?

Horrible! 38 weeks and then this happens, 2 days of just water with vomiting... Charcoal, tea, Smecta aren't helping... What should I do??? They say this could be before childbirth. Please suggest what to drink.

My stomach hurt yesterday, and by this evening, I've had diarrhea twice already. I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and I'm scared... My overall condition is fine, and nothing hurts today.

I am 19 weeks pregnant and had diarrhea for two weeks, even though I didn't eat anything unusual. Rice water, pomegranate peel infusion, and blueberry jelly helped me. To restore electrolyte balance, it's essential to drink dried fruit juice!

I have the same problem, suffering for the 6th day already(((! I'm eating rice and bananas, but it's not helping. I'm hearing about pomegranate peels for the first time, please tell me how to make this decoction, maybe it will help... I'm 21 weeks along.

There's another simple method—swallow a black peppercorn, it helps 100% and is harmless to your health))))

Black pepper didn't help me during diarrhea... I swallowed 3 peppercorns((

Well, I have that problem too. I'm 35 weeks along. I'm hearing about peppers for the first time. I should try it.

And does anyone know if dairy products are okay to consume?

Dairy products? I think it's even necessary...

And I have a 6-year-old child, and we decided to have a second one. I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant. A week ago, I had terrible diarrhea, and my doctor (a very good specialist with 30 years of experience) recommended "Enterol" in sachets (when Smecta doesn't help) and on an empty stomach, or two hours before meals, "Enteros gel" – one dessert spoon with water. This medicine is recommended to many of my friends who are also pregnant. And I recommend it; it really helps. The very next day, everything was gone for me! :))) Wishing everyone good health! :)))

I'm 27 weeks pregnant. I had vomiting in the afternoon (even though morning sickness ended about 3 months ago), and by evening, diarrhea started... I can't figure out what caused it. This is the second time I've had diarrhea, so I've learned my lesson—I bought medication, Bifiform, which needs to be taken twice a day, two tablets each time. I took two tablets—hopefully, it helps. Tomorrow, I have a trip (3 hours by car), and I'm really scared something like this might happen on the way. Can you advise if it's okay to take Imodium in an emergency?

Smecta saved me when I had an intestinal disorder. It's harmless (it's even prescribed to infants). And there are no contraindications for pregnant women.

Oh, girls!!! I thought I was the only one like this!!! Seriously, on the first day, I ran to the bathroom more than 10 times!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else experienced this??? Now it's the second day, and I'm still suffering))) I took Linex, and now I'm brewing pomegranate peels! At least I'm going to the bathroom less often!!! And the hospital is full of stupid idiots!!!!!!

I thought the same, I took some charcoal and so far nothing, but it's still rumbling. I'm also at 21 weeks.

I've had diarrhea since last night and have been running to the bathroom all day. During the day, I called my doctor to ask what I should take. He told me to call an ambulance immediately and not to self-medicate. In the evening after work, I called an ambulance, they took me around hospitals, and said I'd be admitted for at least 10 days—I got food poisoning from yogurt. A doctor came out, examined me, and said: "A young girl with the shits has mobilized an ambulance and didn't even think to drink activated charcoal."

Oh girls, please help! Everyone here is at 27, 31 weeks, and I'm just at the very beginning, only my second week, and I have terrible diarrhea. I used to take loperamide before, but now I can't...((( Has anyone experienced this early in pregnancy? Everyone I talk to has constipation at the start, but I'm suffering, and I still have to go to work! I'm afraid if everything will be okay. Help me, girls, please!

I'm pregnant and have a temperature of 37°C, diarrhea, and vomiting. What could this be? Could it be diarrhea? What should I do?

Girls, I literally had the exact same problem three weeks ago (vomiting, a temperature of 37°C, terrible diarrhea)... and it lasted for five days. At that time, I was 17-18 weeks pregnant... I only managed with rice water, mineral water, crackers, and I took Bifiform. And by the way, I strictly followed the so-called diet prescribed by the doctor: no dairy products, nothing fried or spicy. You can have porridge made with water and everything steamed... but honestly, I was afraid to eat, so I only had rice with crackers and also strong tea.

Today, I've been hit by this diarrhea and vomiting too. I drink water, and it flies right back into the toilet... I feel weak and have a headache. I don't know what to do... help. I don't want to go to the hospital—they'll put me in the infectious disease ward, and there you can catch a whole bunch of other germs.

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my second child. I've been nauseous all day!!! Haven't registered with a doctor yet. I'm about to try self-treatment. All I have from what's mentioned is charcoal and a show. Does anyone actually know if it's really that dangerous? I wasn't worried before, but as soon as I went online, I read all sorts of horror stories.

I was prescribed Bactisubtil for diarrhea and 2 tablets of activated charcoal three times a day... My stomach is rumbling so loudly it's like a thunderstorm outside. I have no idea what to do; it feels like my intestines are about to burst out...

And I'm experiencing something really strange. I'm 25 weeks pregnant. I've had loose stools for over a week now. It's not exactly diarrhea where you're rushing to the nearest toilet with wide eyes, but just loose stools. I go as usual - 1-2 times a day. But each time it's like a liquid mush. No cramps, no gas, no vomiting, no fever. It's just been going on for a while now. Starting to worry...

Turns out I'm not alone... I'm at 17-18 weeks, having diarrhea for 2 days. And I don't think I ate anything unusual... Called my doctor today, she recommended Smecta, to take one packet after each bathroom visit. Drank it, my stomach gurgled a bit and that's it, it's quiet for now... I wish it could be without extremes, it's either constipation or diarrhea...

Diarrhea is also a common occurrence during pregnancy, just like constipation, and it varies from person to person. Of course, it can sometimes be due to food poisoning from spoiled food. But if you rule that out, pay attention to the color of your stool. If it has a greenish tint, it's likely that your diarrhea is caused by an excess of bile secretion. This is a result of high levels of estrogen (female hormones during pregnancy), so don't panic. Sometimes this can also cause cramps in the right upper abdomen.
