Yes, that's normal. After eating, it can rise up to 8.5. The important thing is that it returns to its normal level. Sugar should not be below 5. The glucose level in the body should be 50%, which corresponds to 5.

Age? If young, then there is an excess. The norm is 6, for the elderly the norm is 7.

There's absolutely no elevation at all! First of all, it depends on what you ate. Secondly, glucose returns exactly to its normal level after 1.5 hours. A deviation is if it doesn't go down, a deviation is if it sharply drops below 5, and all the signs of hypoglycemia are visibly present. I've written lab reports and a term paper on this topic. Everyone's blood sugar rises after eating. Moreover, I'll reveal a terrible secret to you: fasting blood sugar isn't tested! Otherwise, you can't see the real picture. That's why we have so much undetected diabetes in the early stages.

If a person eats a piece of bread and their sugar spikes above 15, that's already not normal. But on an empty stomach, they'll have that coveted 5. So they'll live a few years with undetected diabetes until they end up in intensive care with sugar at 35.

No excess.

Normal fasting blood sugar levels are considered to be between 3.3 and 5.5 mmol/liter. Two hours after a meal, the glucose level can rise to 7.8 mmol/liter.

If levels are between 5.5 and 6.7 mmol/liter while fasting and between 7.8 and 11.0 mmol/liter after a meal, impaired glucose tolerance is diagnosed.

Diabetes mellitus is diagnosed if fasting levels exceed 6.7 mmol/liter and levels two hours after a meal exceed 11.0 mmol/liter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fasting:
Normal: 3.3 - 5.5 mmol/l
Prediabetes: 5.6 - 7 mmol/l
Diabetes mellitus: 7 mmol/l and above

-----------------------------------------------------
The normal glucose curve is as follows:
Fasting – plasma glucose level less than 6.1 mmol/l,
Two hours after oral glucose intake, the level should be less than 7.8 mmol/l.
-----------------------------------------------------

A glucose level exceeding 11 mmol/l two hours later indicates diabetes mellitus.
-----------------------------
If the fasting glucose level is 7.0 mmol/l or higher, and two hours after a meal it is 11.1 mmol/l or higher,
this indicates that the person has serious problems with the pancreas, which have led to the development of diabetes mellitus.

A fasting blood sugar concentration of less than 7.0 mmol/l but more than 5.5 mmol/l,
and a level between 7.8-11.0 mmol/l two hours later,
indicates impaired glucose tolerance (a prediabetic state).

My fasting level is 5.5

And I decided to measure glucose not after 2 hours, but after 1 hour,
after eating 4 boiled potatoes! )))

Try it, and measure yours! You'll be shocked ))

You picked info from Google. My info is from medical documentation and endocrinology lectures. Sugar shouldn't be below 5. 4 is already hypoglycemia. I won't even mention a fasting level of 3.3. With sugar like that, a person would be a typical sweet tooth. From glucose deficiency. Glucose in the body should be 50%.

Few people nowadays meticulously delve into this issue... people have plenty of other concerns, but essentially, it's very important because, for example, the same issues with sugar might not manifest themselves at all... that's what happened to me, and now I have insulin resistance. I manage by counting bread units and always taking Olidzhim tablets. They help normalize blood sugar levels, which, by the way, is crucial for pancreatic health.

Why after 1.5 hours? The standard is 2 hours?

What does endocrinology have to do with this? This is clinical diagnostics. What do you mean 'glucose in the body'? That's illiterate. Glucose exists in SERUM, in PLASMA, and in WHOLE CAPILLARY BLOOD. And in all three cases, the values will be different. You're watching the wrong lectures.

Hello, I came across your answer about blood sugar. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has studied this topic about what causes and what kind of imbalance occurs when blood sugar drops after eating... I've been suffering from this condition for over 3 years, doctors just shrug. I'd be grateful.

Apple cider vinegar helps me keep my sugar levels normal. Two teaspoons in a glass of water and drink it 30 minutes after dinner. Yesterday before bed my sugar was 5.5 and in the morning 5.7. Not sure why it's higher in the morning but still not 7.3-7.5 like it used to be

Today I measured my blood sugar at work with a friend's glucometer, it showed 1.19, is that low? Or is the glucometer glitching? It's brand new, right out of the box. I've been struggling with an illness related to the gastrointestinal tract for a year and a half, hunger every 3 hours, dizziness, nausea.

Same here 🤦♀️, in the evening 6.3, and in the morning 6.6 or 7.0

Hello! I have the same thing, after eating my sugar is lower than when fasting. I'd be curious to know what that means.

I was shocked—fasting sugar 5.8. 1 hour after breakfast 11.4. 2 hours later 5.8. I don't get a damn thing.

My fasting blood sugar ranges from 5.0 to 5.8. The other day it was even 4.8 once. Two hours after eating, it's around 5.8 to 6.4. I did a provocation test—ate potatoes with meat plus a handful of sweet black grapes—and after two hours it was 6.9. What concerns me is the fasting sugar level of 5.8....

Oh, of course)) My fasting level is 4.2, 2 hours after eating it's 4.8, and I always feel perfectly fine. 45-60 minutes after eating it's 6.8.

Then why get blood drawn on an empty stomach, starving yourself for 10/12 hours, if glucose returns to normal after 1.5 hours?

I also had issues with blood sugar, but I managed to sort them out fairly quickly, and thank God it didn't progress to diabetes... I drank Evalar Bio tea for diabetes. That's what it's called. It contains goat's rue, buckwheat, and blackcurrant. It's tasty, aromatic, and has proven to be excellent.

I don't understand. I had my blood glucose tested at the lab, and the result was 5.4. At home, I measured with a glucometer, and it was 6.2. Two hours after eating, it's 5.5, sometimes 6.5. I also had my glycated hemoglobin tested, and the result was 4.7%.

Hello! How are you feeling now? I've been struggling with this for about 5 years. The condition keeps getting worse and worse. Doctors don't pay attention since a diabetes diagnosis hasn't been established. Tell me, to what levels does your sugar drop?
