How long should I fry …

How long should I fry beef patties for?

Hello! I've made minced beef. The grind is closer to medium. How many minutes should I fry beef patties until they're done, so they don't turn out like 'shoe soles', not dry, but also not raw inside? #patties #beef #cookingtime

Fry until a crust forms, then simmer in a covered pan for about 40 minutes.

When frying, there are many nuances; the thinner the patties, the less time they need to cook. As a general rule, it's necessary to preheat the pan and fry the patties over moderate heat for 5-6 minutes on each side. Then, keep them on low heat with the lid on for extra assurance and to ensure they remain juicy. In total, beef or pork patties are fried for 25-30 minutes, including steaming. The juices from the patties should be clear, not pinkish.

About 8 minutes on each side.
If the outside is done but the inside is still raw, that means your heat is too high. And you shouldn't fry burgers on high heat.

What does simmer mean? Do I need to add water?

Cheers. That's already more specific and easier for me here.

So 8 minutes each side on low heat? Do you need to cover with a lid?

I fry for a couple of minutes on each side, then simmer for 20 minutes on low heat.
And you don't flip it anymore after that?

I usually judge the doneness by eye. I fry them on a low heat because I don't like them too well-done, and I flip them often to prevent burning. Also, I occasionally pierce them to check that the juices run clear.

I first fry the cutlets in a pan until they form a crust, then place them in a preheated oven for 15 to 30 minutes.

I prefer stewed over fried, especially since beef can be tougher. So I sear it first and then transfer it to a pot to stew briefly with a little water.

That's such a faff with the oven

Thanks. Do they not end up watery then?

I fry them on medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side, then cover with a lid and let them finish cooking under the lid, but I still flip them a couple of times.
You can press them lightly with a fork, and if the juices run clear, they're done.
You can turn off the heat and let them rest under the lid.

Anyway, if you're really struggling with cooking, you can buy a meat thermometer and check the temperature inside the meat or patties.

No. I don't add water because I grate the onion on a coarse grater into the mince, it gives off a lot of juice. The cutlets turn out very juicy

What does simmer mean? Do I need to add water?
The juice will come out from the patties itself
if it's too dry you can add a bit of water to the bottom

So 8 minutes each side on low heat? Do you need to cover with a lid?
First on medium heat and don't cover with a lid. And then, when you've flipped the patties to the other side and lightly fried them, then on a low heat and with the lid closed.

I usually check by seeing if the juice from the cutlet runs clear without a pink tinge, then they're done.

После 40 минут жарки тушить придётся огнетушителем. 😱
