Volodimir, but really, wouldn't it be more usefull if you focus on improving your current language skills, say english, instead of dissipating time and efford on many languages just to be unable to use any of them properly (like the structure you mentioned)?

my Lingo vocabulare shows 2 meaning - тупица и ботаник. i think you've used second meaning regarding Volodimir.

I am able to speak many Slavic languages properly. I don't think that my exellent English would be in help somewhere in the center of Prag or Warsaw better than my bad Polish or Czech, z'e nie mam racje, ? If You don't want to speak about the languages, I won't either.I had a situation , when 2 translators knowing English could not translate one very important instruction in Swedish, even having a vocabulary.

My family lived in Turkey a few years. rather they'd live in USA). what can i do with my turkish? nothing... who with and where to talk in it, only in Turkey. so useless. do you know it too, don't you?) or just few words?

1. yes, I happen to think english can be pretty helpful even in such places as "the center of Prag or Warsaw" (it helps me a lot in "the center of berlin", for instance :)

2. i don;t get why now and then you keep inserting some words in some slavic languages when you address me :) knowing that i don't speak them, what r u trying to achieve with it :)

So that all the languages I studied were not useless for me.

oh, no, just a afew words, coz there are so many turkish people in berlin (they say it's 30% of its poplulation) and i attended a german course where i became friends with a turkish girl. So what you can do to use it is come to Berlin :) you'll make do with turlish alone here, easily :) and feel like home, i promise :)

did i ever imply that? nothing like that! i was just puzzled with your drive for the quantity while complaining about the quality (i refer now to your own words about inability to speak english as englishmen. and it is true, your english has much of a russian syntax (i hope that's the right term for structuring one's phrazes)

We bought the chemical equipment for our plants in Sweden. It was the original Swedish equipment only to be used in Sweden and there wasn't an instruction in English. But we had no time to wait the English one . We had to launch the line as quickly as possible.

well, then...hell knows why they didn't manage! how i should know? translation is not an easy job, one needs to be well informed in so many areas and fields of...anything. maybe there was some very specific terminology they weren't familiaer with? how i should know? you should have asked them :)

But as a rule the German language is studied with the English in Germanistics faculties - there is only one pace from German to Swedish.These were the chemical industry - oriented translators.

OK, I am Ukrainian. I immigrated to Canada 11 years ago with my ex-husband (of course, he was my husband at that time) Usually people with 90-100% marks get it.

Then I worked in my field - IT. But it was the time when IT people were losing jobs, so my salary was ridiculous. I decided to go back to college and to take a business course. After that i got divorced, remarried and found my dream job.

Right now I am on my pregnancy leave.

я и сама не помню, но чего-то там этот..педро выступал, не суть

по логике вещей, выходит, наблатыкалась дома :) это довольно простой и приятный язык. с детства мне нравился, особых трудностей не представлял. причем, еще несколько лет назад я говорила на нем даже лучше, чем сейчас. потому что в универе общалась с америкосами, ну и грамматика моя была тогда сильна и основательна. теперь-то все повыветрилось. и общаться приходится с неносителями, а это не способствует развитию моей собственной речи. ну, или с бритами еще иногда (бррр! :) не люблю я их чего-то. и английский их соответсвенно
