Weight gain during pregnancy

Hey girls!!! Before pregnancy I was 58kg, now I'm 24 weeks and already weigh 66.5kg, meaning I've gained 8.5kg. The doctor says that's way too much. I'm 170cm tall, and I still look skinny, like I haven't gained weight at all. I can't give up pastries and food, I really want to eat all the time. Share your experiences—how much did you gain during pregnancy, and how did you get rid of the extra pounds afterward?

Author, this is a bit. Check out this link: http://babyteva.ru/calc/for/

I'm in my 9th month and have already gained 18 kg. At 6 months, I gained 4 kg, at 7 months—3 kg, even though I ate very little. In the 8th month, I gave up on all restrictions and started eating EVERYTHING... and gained the same 3 kg. :) I think it's impossible to control. And the weight comes off quickly—while you're breastfeeding and taking care of the baby, you'll be running around enough...

During my entire pregnancy with my first child, I gained 11 kg. That's normal, as the doctor said. But I don't agree that weight comes off quickly when you breastfeed. It's different for everyone. Now, at 7 months with my second, I've gained 4 kg. But considering I already had extra weight, the doctor said it's fine. It's harder for heavier women to give birth, so I recommend keeping an eye on your weight.

Author, you should ease up on the pastries a bit. That way, you could easily tip the scales over a hundred kilos. And why do you need other people's stories about how much weight they gained and how quickly they lost it? It's all individual. But! The more weight you gain, the harder it is to part with it later.

At first, I gained a lot. Even though I followed all their recommendations, I still gained about 18 kg by the 6th month. It was a nightmare!! I mean, because of my height, I didn’t look fat, but walking was incredibly hard. I’ve now given up on their restrictions and eat chocolate, though I don’t recommend it. As a result, I started feeling full faster or something, I’m not sure, but my last weigh-in showed -2.5 kg. As for how weight is lost after childbirth, I don’t know—I haven’t given birth myself—but from observing my friends, it varies. By the way, not all those who breastfed a lot and for a long time lost weight quickly. So, I don’t think it depends on breastfeeding.

I couldn't give birth naturally the first time after gaining 20 kg... I started having health problems. The second time, I controlled my cravings and gained 11 kg. I gave birth easily and without complications.

I'm in my 7th month, I've gained 6 kg, but I constantly feel like eating, especially sweets))) I'm having a girl. With my first, a boy, I gained 15 kg, and it was really hard to lose it... So I'm trying to watch what I eat. Wednesday and Friday are my fasting days, and I eat small portions... but then there are chocolates and pastries with kefir... Ugh, looks like I'm going to overeat anyway, lately it's getting harder to restrain myself.((

I also realized that I eat because of work. I took a two-week sick leave, was running around doing things, including going back to my hometown, and I didn’t feel like eating at all!!!! Always on the go, busy, no time for food. But at work, you sit all day, it’s a sedentary job, and after two hours, it’s like a drum beating in my head—I’m so hungry. I can barely hold back. I can’t wait for maternity leave ))))

I don't agree that the more weight you gain, the harder it is to give birth... During my first pregnancy, I gained 8 kg, and the baby weighed 3850 g. I had weak labor activity. Now I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have already gained 12 kg... The doctor scolds me, and I seem to eat little and eat healthy, but I'm expanding sideways like yeast dough... Meanwhile, a couple of my acquaintances gained about 25 kg each during pregnancy, both are not tall, and they gave birth easily... I don't think labor activity fundamentally depends on weight...

I'm in America. Here, doctors don't impose restrictions or any fasting days. It's believed that frequent miscarriages happen because the baby in the womb is starving.

My friend's niece is thin and delicate, like a reed in the wind. When she got pregnant, her doctor nagged her endlessly about food, advising her to eat only high-calorie things, especially emphasizing ice cream))) Due to her minimal weight gain, she was under close medical supervision throughout the pregnancy.

She went into labor having gained only 8 kg. The doctor thought that was waaaaay too little.

What idiots—the baby is starving.

Never mind that it'll be born weighing at most 5 kilograms anyway? And if I stuff myself and gain 30 kg, 20 of those won't go to the baby but will just settle on my butt as dead weight.

I wrote recently on another thread—the women at work have been driving me crazy: eat, eat—you're pregnant, you need to eat for two. I tell them: my baby weighs 0.5 kg, does it really need as much as I do, a 70 kg woman? Yes, they answer... Crazy. And the worst part—they gave birth 10 years ago and still wear size 50 with rolls of fat.

Oh, author, don't worry! During my first pregnancy, I gained 25 kg, and later I lost even more (before pregnancy I wore size 46, after giving birth and breastfeeding I started wearing size 44). Now I'm six months pregnant, and I've already gained 20 kg. The doctor scolds me, of course, and I try to diet sometimes, but I just can't give up sweets. Especially ice cream:(((

I was never much of a sweet tooth to begin with; I was pretty indifferent to sweets.
But now I’m going crazy for pastries like a madwoman. In the first trimester, I was craving baked goods, and now it’s sweets...

Well, I don't know, author... With a height of 170 cm, 58 kg isn't much, of course, initially. And with your height, gaining up to 70-75 kg during pregnancy seems possible, I think. But on the other hand, be a bit more careful with pastries. Not just because of weight gain—it's also the excess sugar and fats; what if the baby develops an allergy? Maybe switch to low-calorie options if you really crave them... Or just go for whipped cream without the pastry. And overall, it's better not to gain too much extra weight. It'll be very hard on you—especially in the last month.

Many people write about how difficult it is to lose weight after childbirth, but don't forget that age also plays its role. The period of 25-30 is not as favorable as 18-25...

I didn't gain any weight until the 4th month, but from the 4th to the 6th month, I gained 5 kg. The doctor scolds me, saying I eat too much.

Girls!

I'm 35-36 weeks pregnant. Before pregnancy, I weighed 63-65 kg. Now, oh, HORROR, 84 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God there's not much time left, but still, I'm afraid I won't be able to give birth naturally.

Before pregnancy, I weighed 84 kg, and now at 15 weeks, I'm up to 90! It's terrifying—if this keeps up, I'll turn into a little dough ball!

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have gained 16 kg, with a height of 184 cm. During my first pregnancy, I gained the same amount, but that was over the entire pregnancy... I don't think I'm overeating much; I've been eating as usual, but my belly already looks like it's at 9 months.

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have already gained 11 kg. I was already curvy before, at 166 cm tall I weighed 75 kg, and now I'm almost 86 kg. I know it's a lot, and I'm trying not to eat too much. But I also crave ice cream, and I eat it.

I am 32 weeks pregnant and have only gained 2 kilograms. My height is 176 cm. I eat whatever I want and as much as I want. Although before pregnancy I sometimes gained extra weight, I would lose it afterward.

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and have gained 11 kg. Before pregnancy, I weighed 50-52 kg!! The doctor scolds me, but I can't help eating when I want to. What should I do?! I can't starve myself and the baby!!!

I'm currently 23 weeks into my second pregnancy. I've gained 11 kg. I won't be original, but my doctor scolds me too ))) During my first pregnancy, I gained 22 kg (I'm 168 cm tall, I was 58 kg before, and at delivery, I was 80 kg). But within two years, I went down to 4 kg less than my starting weight, without a single stretch mark, belly, or cellulite :) Now I'm watching my diet for health reasons, but I'm not stressing too much because, for me personally, weight gain doesn't depend on my diet. The most important thing is that the baby gets everything they need.

I am 37 weeks pregnant and have gained 13 kg. Before pregnancy, I weighed 63 kg, now I am 73 kg, with a height of 170 cm. I think it's not too much, although the doctor says I have already gained the recommended amount. I am very hungry. I try to eat everything necessary for the baby, but in small portions and only until 6:00 PM.

I try to eat everything necessary for the baby, but in small portions and only until 6:00 PM.

14 weeks and minus 4 kg. The doctor hasn't scolded me yet because I weighed 76 kg before pregnancy, and now I'm 72 kg with a height of 162 cm. But most likely, if I show up at the next appointment with another loss, I'll have to listen to how this is very bad...

I'm currently in my 37th week. My height is 173 cm, and before pregnancy, I weighed 65 kg. Today I weighed myself—75.5 kg. It's strange because two weeks ago it was 75.9 kg. Is it normal to lose weight in the final weeks?

I'm also worried. My height is 170 cm, and my weight before the second pregnancy was 60 kg (before the first it was 58 kg, but I never managed to lose those two extra kilos during the 2.5 years of breastfeeding). Until 23 weeks, I only gained 1 kg, but then it started piling on... Now I'm at 34 weeks and already almost 74 kg, meaning I've gained a whopping 14 kg. I don't feel overweight, but probably because of the weight, my calves hurt when I walk...

Before pregnancy, I weighed 59-60 kg. By 17 weeks, I was already down to 55 kg. Now at 21 weeks, I weigh 57 kg. I'm 170 cm tall. The doctor said I'm GAINING TOO MUCH WEIGHT!!!! How is that even possible???? Like, gaining 2 kg in a month is a lot.
But I haven't even regained the weight I had before pregnancy.

I don't get it. I look very thin, barely any belly. And the doctor thinks I'm fat!!!

UGH!

Don't stress yourselves out, girls. If your test results are normal, then everything else is just empty scare stories. Don't torture yourselves. Besides overeating, there's also genetic predisposition. And fighting this issue is pointless. At a height of 170 cm and an initial weight of 54 kg, I gained 24 kg during pregnancy. Moreover, the weight started increasing from 20 weeks. Before that, the gain was 0. I didn't look fat. I wore the same clothes as before pregnancy. The doctors starved me, scolded me. But what was the point? I wasn't eating anything, yet the weight kept creeping up anyway. I gave birth normally, was active throughout the pregnancy like a horse, and my tests were fine. After giving birth, I lost 16 kg immediately. By the time my daughter was 5 years old, I weighed 50 kg.

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and have gained 5.4 kg. The doctor says it's too much. All the weight gain charts and calculators indicate that I'm actually underweight! Even though I hardly eat sweets. So sometimes doctors can be unreasonable too. Starving the baby and walking around with a growling stomach is just too much!

I'm currently nearing the end of week 26. My pre-pregnancy weight was 73 kg. I've now gained +8 kg from my starting weight. Honestly, saying I'm shocked is an understatement! Many people write that they've gained 12-15 kg and don't see a difference, but I can see it terribly on myself. Especially my face—it's become like a round bun, my cheeks. I'm definitely not eating for three, but I'm not restricting myself either. My doctor hasn't said anything to me. I asked her at my last appointment, and she said, "For now, eat as much as you want." Yeah, and how will that affect me later...
P.S. I also finally decided to take my husband's last name, but I can't even take a decent photo—I don't want to walk around with such a bloated face in my passport later. I don't even know what to do((

This is my third pregnancy. With the first two, I gained 22 kg each time and had wonderful natural births. Now my weight is skyrocketing again—13 weeks and already up 6 kg.... I console myself by thinking that afterwards, it'll be back to buckwheat, chicken breast, and running!

The doctor didn't say anything about the weight))) didn't even ask yesterday) but my belly is small and I don't look fat. Starting weight 52, now 56,900 yesterday. But I'm getting strong cravings. What else, I hope my face doesn't blow up, it's hard to control myself, but I think about after childbirth, my husband, and hold back) And also, cellulite is the worst, even below the knees, it's a nightmare

I have a similar situation. 27 weeks, already gained 15 kg!!!! With a height of 182. With my first, I gained 22 kg over the entire pregnancy, and he was born 2700 grams. And my belly was small back then, but now my belly looks like it's at 8 months. I'm worried about giving birth normally ((
