Dear Author, please specify which English do you prefer to speak? It might be American, British, Australian or Jamaican dialects-either one, you choose.

Мне кажется это прямая калька с русской фразы, на английском так не говорят, я думаю.

Author, I would recommend you books of Sidney Sheldon. His English is very easy and books are really interesting. I could not put them away when I was reading them. Any book would do.

You can say

"i wish i spoke english fluently" in the following context:

i wish i spoke english fluently when I met her 10 years ago.

If you mean You wish you could speak english fluently now, you say could

Ok! your apologise is accepted ; ). i see you know english very well, so we need YOU in this topic)

By the way , does anybody париться cause of using "you" to little, adult and unknown peoplе? Here i write "you" to unknown people and every time feel myself uncomfortably, as if i тыкаю. ))

can't really say I'm learning it anymore, rather using. Unfortunately, it's the only foreign language I like and, therefore, the only one I'm fluent in. Tried to master German, but realized I'd never manage. I cringe at a mere sound of it, not to mention its structure and grammar. Took a couple attempts at Japanese and French back in school, but since I have no need in tehm in my every-day life, it simply makes no sense to invest into it. For language skills die without regular practice. I wish I was more in love with French, though. It could have made me learn it purely for the sake of its beauty. But I guess, I was too busy being practical and rational. I actually decided that I wouldn't attemp French (for fun) before I mastered German (which I really need). And since I'm stuck with German, French is always but a distant possibility :) Italian sounds nice, too. But that's no reason enough for me to learn it.

"I wish" in this context always takes past... damn, I don't even remember the grammar any more! like with russian, if I start thinking about the rules, I won't be able to speak it :)

But you got the point, right? Besides, someone above has already explained the rule. I would probably translate it smth like: Zhal', chto ya ne govoryu. Ili tipa togo.

Try to learn Italian . There are many words in it similiar to the english ones.

For instance -

Table - tAvola

informazione - information

Chamber - camera

and many others...

Almost all Romanic lexics of English is the same for Italian. And the tenses are almost the same. The problem would be maybe Subjunctive - it is dead in English , but very alive in Italian.

I guess I was not clear enough :) there are only 2 things that can motivate me study things: 1. I need them to death :) and 2. I love them to death :) So far Italian doesn't fall into either of the two. i believe that's what makes us very different, huh :)

whatever :) I just know that English doesn't bother with silly forms of politeness (which, for e.g., are extreme in Japanese) as well as a whole bunch of other useless things like gender, cases, etc. Nice and simple. To me "you" is rather "ty" than "vy". Depends on the context purely. If you address someone by their last name and "mr" then your "you" is "vy". Very reasonable in my opinion
