How to lose weight …

How to lose weight while breastfeeding

Please help with advice!
Gave birth 5 weeks ago, second child. Weight before pregnancy was 58-59 kg with a height of 168. Gained about 15 kg during pregnancy, came home weighing 69, and in five weeks only lost 2 kg, even though I don't indulge in any junk food, specifically bought a steamer, meat and vegetables steamed, I can only allow myself tea with something sweet and sometimes bread with cheese. But the weight doesn't want to budge, even though I know that breastfeeding helps with weight loss. Physical activity, no opportunity to do it yet, because I have two small children, no help so I don't have time. Those who lost weight while breastfeeding, speak up! How did you eat? What did you do?

Not everyone loses weight while breastfeeding. I started gaining weight two months after giving birth. I began losing weight when I stopped breastfeeding, but I still have the last 5 kg to lose, and they're coming off slowly.

I have the same thing! I just gave birth 2 months ago. It's also my second childbirth. The 6 kg just won't go away(( After the first birth, I got back in shape in a month.

Well, who knows, I left the maternity hospital with an extra 12 kg, and they went away on their own within a year—I was constantly on the move, eating on the go. Every time I fed the baby, I felt hungry; it probably took everything from me. I didn’t go on a diet because the baby also needs to eat vitamins—where will they come from if you’re only eating buckwheat? My advice is to wait a bit, let your body get used to your new state.

I didn't weigh myself until my baby was about 6 months old, and then it turned out I was 42 kg. Before pregnancy, I was 49 kg and gained 8 kg. The baby is such a huge physical and emotional burden that honestly, I don't know how I haven't wasted away. I breastfed on demand, and my appetite hasn't been particularly strong since the delay started; I eat 5-7 times a day, about 100 grams each time.

By the way, not everyone loses weight while breastfeeding.

++++++++++ In fact, the majority actually gain weight during this time, and quite a bit. Because, simply put, most people don't produce enough milk with just "healthy eating." Roughly speaking, you have to eat a lot to sustain lactation. There are exceptions, of course, where genetically, lactation is very high, metabolism is fast, and the body type is asthenic. Yes, those people do lose weight.

You need to give up outside help (grandparents, husband). When I gave birth to my eldest, I was on my own all day. My husband was at work, no help from him. After two months, I was slim and energetic, as if I had never given birth.

I've never been thin before (157 cm/49 kg), so my metabolism is average. When I was breastfeeding, I had flare-ups of health issues, sometimes didn't eat for several days, but still had milk—the key is to drink. On a diet of buckwheat and meat, you won't gain weight and will have plenty of milk, just to mention proper nutrition.

Don't throw slippers at me for my advice. I'll just share my personal experience. After giving birth, I was 52 kg. While breastfeeding, I gained up to 59 kg in a few months (for me, that's a lot). It happened precisely because I had no help at all—relatives were far away, my husband worked from morning till night. The baby was fussy and wouldn't let me do anything. I coped with stress by eating heavily. But it couldn't have been any other way because it was really tough. When I stopped breastfeeding at 11 months, I weighed about 57 kg. Then, little by little, about a kilogram a month. Now I'm 49 kg. So, author, if you're going through a similarly tough time right now, just honestly DON'T WORRY about it for now. You're already dealing with a lot of stress—don't add more to your plate. You'll definitely lose weight when things get easier.

Yeah, not everyone loses weight while breastfeeding. I only started losing weight when I stopped nursing, and I breastfed until my child was two years old. You're still in the very early stages, so don't stress yourself out. Try to sleep and rest as much as you can.

I lost weight quickly. The baby is restless, no nannies or grandmothers to help. Fifth floor with NO ELEVATOR))) I carried the stroller up and down two or three times a day, to the store, the clinic, and the housing office. Cleaning the apartment, cooking meals... I didn't even have time to eat myself, so within six months, I weighed less than before pregnancy.

Oh, and I, on the contrary, lose my appetite completely from stress... :(

Active walks, pushing the stroller—that's what saved me back in the day. Now is definitely not the time for diets.

Under no circumstances, Author, should you intentionally lose weight! It's contraindicated during breastfeeding. If you want to ensure your baby's lifelong health and, consequently, spare yourself the troubles of having a constantly sick child—endure it. It's just a little over a year! It's absolutely forbidden to deliberately lose weight while breastfeeding. However, simply eating healthily and not overindulging in fatty and starchy foods is acceptable. No sports, gymnastics, or any unnecessary physical exertion is needed either, as all the "body waste" released during such activities enters the milk. Look at how animals behave during this period. Their instincts for survival and preserving their offspring are more developed than in humans. Learn from them—at least during this time. Once the milk production ends, you'll have plenty of opportunities to lose weight! :)

One should always engage in sports. It's the key to normal well-being. Just during breastfeeding, it shouldn't be overly exhausting sports - Pilates, yoga, aqua aerobics, swimming.

I lost 30 kilograms in three months while breastfeeding. In the morning, I had a large portion of oatmeal with milk and butter—lots of milk will come for the baby from that. But no salt!!! You can add honey. For lunch, a piece of quality meat—300–400 grams, without salt or spices. I also allowed myself two bananas, one green apple, and a slice of black bread per day. With this diet, you'll lose weight quickly, and the baby will get everything they need. And forget about cheese sandwiches.

Oh, how nice it is to read your comment. A very similar situation: I started doing fitness and try to limit myself with food. In vain. An extra 6-7 kg. The child is almost 11 months old. We'll wait)) but thank you anyway. There is hope!!

I gained 12 kg during breastfeeding (my baby is now 11 months old). Plus 10 kg during pregnancy. That's a total of 22 kg 😖😖😖 It's really tough now. When I tried eating less, my milk supply dropped (((( I'm 172 cm tall, currently weigh 87 kg, but I used to be 65 kg.

I gave birth two months ago, during the pregnancy I gained an extra 20kg, 10 have gone but the other 10 just won't budge. At a height of 1.65m, I weigh 73kg. I don't know what to do.

Before giving birth, I was 172 cm tall and weighed 57 kg. During pregnancy, I gained 23 kg. After giving birth, I lost 10 kg, and that was it. Now my child is one year old, and I am exclusively breastfeeding. If I don't eat all day, I hardly have any milk in the evening. But at 70 kg, it's really tough both physically and mentally. I don't know what to do anymore.

During my first pregnancy and after, I didn't gain any weight—I was as thin as a reed. During the second pregnancy, I didn't gain any weight either, but while breastfeeding, I just ballooned—and no one helps me with the kids. I dream of losing weight, but I won't until I finish breastfeeding because I only know how to lose weight in extreme ways.

I gained 21 kg during my second pregnancy and lost 15 kg in the first month after giving birth. The rest isn't coming off, so I'll stick to a healthy diet.

I wanted to share my story. At a height of 1.64 meters, I weighed 52-55 kg before marriage. I got married—immediately got pregnant, and that’s when it all started. I ate like a hippo, and the result was 84.8 kg on the scale during labor at the hospital. Can you believe it... I gave birth quickly, without tears and without prolonged suffering. I conveniently forgot the pain of childbirth and came home with a 3,160-gram baby in a blanket and 76 kg still on me. After 5 days, I was 75 kg. After 7 days, 73 kg. And the scale stayed at 73 kg for about two months, and that’s when I realized this couldn’t go on. I reviewed my diet and cut out a kilogram of cookies with 2 liters of tea and cream. Yes, you read that right—exactly that: a kilogram of cookies and tea with milk, which I used to snack on and drink around the clock. The result after a week: -5 kg. The scale showed 68 kg. It stayed that way for another two months. Then I decided to cut out pasta and all the junk, sticking to proper nutrition, reducing portion sizes, eating more frequently, and keeping a food diary. I started doing Jillian Michaels’ "30-Day Shred." Walking with my son for at least an hour a day. And climbing up and down the stairs to the 5th floor five times a day, all of this daily. Yes, I’m human too, and I give myself breaks. Sometimes they last 1-3 days. But then I get back on track. And ta-da! In a month, I reached 60 kg. But the last 5 kg just won’t budge. My weight is stuck for now. Now I’m thinking of adding a fasting day. By the way, for the breastfeeding moms out there, everything’s fine with my milk. My son is exclusively breastfed. He’s 5 months old. He doesn’t even drink water. He weighs 8 kg and is 69 cm tall, which is really good for a 5-month-old (knock on wood), but there’s still more to go. I drink 2-4 liters of water a day. And I drink black tea; sometimes I eat a lot of bread, but on those days, I just don’t lose weight. Also, going from 68 to 63 kg, the Bormental diet helped me. I watched their shows and ate as they recommended. But I only lasted 3-4 days. The result: a few kilograms lost. Yes, you lose weight quickly on it, but I almost died. So I decided to take it slow but steady.

Before giving birth, I weighed 52 kg at a height of 1.60 m. When I got pregnant, I started eating more and gained 11 kg. After giving birth, I lost 13 kg in two weeks. Two months later, I began eating everything and now weigh 54-55 kg. I want to lose weight, but I won't go on any diets until I finish breastfeeding.

Before pregnancy, I weighed 54-56 kg (height 162 cm), and by the end of pregnancy, I was 80 kg. After giving birth, I didn't step on the scale for three weeks (I was in the hospital with the baby). When I finally weighed myself, I was 65 kg, and after about a month and a half, I was 60 kg.

I didn't deny myself anything—I ate tons of hazelnuts and walnuts, drank tea, and so on. It's just that when there's no one to help, you don't even know how to find a moment to sit down and eat. There were times when I ate only once a day, but I made sure to eat heartily. Plus, breastfeeding.

I think it's about hormones—some people lose weight while breastfeeding, while others gain. If you were slim before giving birth and are now breastfeeding along with some physical activity, the weight will come off on its own. Just focus on feeding your baby calmly; that's the most important thing right now!

Oh girls 😑 I have the same problem(( I gained 17 kg during pregnancy 😬 at 172 cm tall I weighed 65 kg before pregnancy, after giving birth I only lost 8 😶 now I weigh 74 kg and sometimes I think I look thin without a belly 😇 but I couldn't fit into my old jeans. I eat porridge, soups, and have dinner no later than 6-7. The baby is fussy and I eat on the go with him, but due to lactation issues I have to drink tea with condensed milk 😐 about 15 times a day... I want to get back to my old shape without harming the baby 😓

During my pregnancy, I gained 25 kg, starting from 61 kg at 160 cm tall. Now I weigh 65 kg, having lost 20 kg. I want to lose another 5 kg. I am breastfeeding, eat everything but in small portions, and don't eat after 6 PM. The weight is coming off very slowly, about 1 kg per month. How can I lose weight quickly? Can anyone suggest a diet I can follow while breastfeeding? I want to lose 5 kg in 2 weeks.

Before pregnancy, I weighed 56 kg at a height of 173 cm and gained 16 kg. Now my baby is 8 months old, and I weigh 54 kg. I started going to the gym a month after giving birth and got back in shape fairly quickly. In my case, exercising didn’t affect breastfeeding at all. Plus, during the first few months, my son had constant colic and various rashes, so I practically had to survive on buckwheat and zucchini... and as treats, I had cottage cheese with banana and baked apples☺ Now I eat everything, following healthy eating principles. I also eat sweets, preferably homemade and in the first half of the day) and I work out 3-4 times a week.

Keep in mind that during weight loss, toxins are released. They are stored in fat to prevent harm to the body. That's why when people lose weight, they often detoxify their body as well. Therefore, losing weight while breastfeeding is not advisable. All these toxins will easily transfer into the milk and then to your baby.

Be patient for a year and maintain a healthy lifestyle for now. You can lose the weight calmly later. It's better to wait a year than to struggle with a sick child for a lifetime.

I gave birth two months ago, gained 25 kg during pregnancy, and have already lost 18 kg. I'm trying to eat small portions frequently, mainly vegetables and protein foods, but I do allow myself some baked goods occasionally. You can't have all sorts of unhealthy stuff while breastfeeding, but I exercise because I know I'll never lose weight without it. Overall, I have 7 kg left to lose, and I think I can manage it in a month or a month and a half.

Before pregnancy, I weighed 63 kg at a height of 170 cm. During pregnancy, I only gained 6 kg. My daughter was born weighing 3800 grams. Now I eat more, more frequently, and higher in calories than during pregnancy: milk-based porridges, chicken soup, unlimited dairy products, cheese, bran bread, oatmeal cookies... I want to breastfeed for at least a year. I drink a lot of green tea with milk. Now I weigh 65 kg. I will lose weight—BUT only after I finish nursing the baby!!!

Good afternoon! Losing weight while breastfeeding is certainly not easy; the most important thing is not to harm the baby. Be sure to consult with a pediatrician. A personalized diet really helped me: I lost 8 kg in the first month, then another 5, and I returned to my pre-pregnancy weight. Check out the diet planner on this website: http://vsediet.ru/ Good luck!

During my pregnancy, I gained 7 kg. I went from 63 to 70 kg. When I left the maternity hospital, I weighed 60 kg. I'm breastfeeding, and in the morning, I always have milk-based porridge (barley, corn, or oatmeal). Throughout the day, I have kefir, fat-free cottage cheese, varenets, ryazhenka, cheese, and green apples. I don't eat bread at all, no cookies or tea with condensed milk. It's not that I'm restricting myself—I just don't crave it. And honestly, there's hardly any time to eat! I have to manage cooking, laundry, and two walks a day! When would I have time for three-course meals? I take vitamins for nursing mothers.

Second pregnancy: before pregnancy, I weighed 51 kg, gained 9 kg, and after giving birth, within about 10 days, I was back to 51 kg. But when my baby was 3 months old, I thought I wasn't producing enough milk, so in 2 months, I gained 5 kg! That's too much for me, and I keep eating and eating out of habit. If I try to stick to kefir for a day, the next day I end up eating even more :( And if the baby doesn't sleep well at night, I stress-eat too :( No one is around to help either; there are no relatives nearby, but I'm still gaining weight :(((( I hope to maintain breastfeeding and not turn into an elephant. Although the extra kilograms are putting me in a depressed state ;)
